A Little Something For Bridgette

Anyone who's dealt directly with CRK, knows what an absolute pleasure Bridgette is. She's consistently nice, helpful and gets the job done. I was talking with her yesterday concerning the "sprucing up" of my Sebenza and I asked what she thought of the new "green Beret" knife. Said she loves it, told me all about it and that she's going to have to break down and buy one herself. She was pretty excited about that knife.

HERE'S A CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING FOR A PERSON WHO'S HELPED SO MANY OF US. AS A GROUP, LET'S BUY HER THE KNIFE !!

For those who want to take part, let's each contribute either $10 or $20. It's roughly a $300 knife, so we should be able to knock it out in no time. I've tried to think this through a little bit. It could turn into a real mess, so let's just follow a few guidelines and I think it'll work out OK.

Send $10 or send $20, no more. This is not a gesture from me or from any particular individual. It's a group gesture and we don't want to be competing to overshadow each other. NO PERSONAL CHECKS. That's really important. Make your contribution in the form of a money order, only. Also, we don't want to pay $25000 for a $300 knife. CRK would have an accounting nightmare on their hands. Each contributor should post to this thread, indicating the amount of the contribution and the running total. Let's bring it to $380, to cover checks that are "lost in the mail". Any overpayment will go on account for Bridgette at CRK. Let's not go beyond that. Also, if you post that you're contributing, make sure that you send the indicated amount RIGHT AWAY. Not a couple days later. Let's not draw this out. Let's make it easy. Painless for CRK, that's the whole idea.

This is going to go real fast. For those who miss a chance to contribute, that's okay, just pipe in on this thread anyway, but don't send $$. This is from us, as a group, even the ones who couldn't get the check out in time.

One last point / request. On these forums, we argue, agree, disagree, learn a lot about knives, the cutlery industry, etc... Sometimes, we go nuts and turn sensible discussions into non-sensible discussions or get a little stuck in a myriad of pointless details. No doubt, this is not a perfect plan. It's just a good idea and I'm sure we'll all agree on that. It's OUR idea, not mine. So, let's not debate the details or change the plan. Let's just do it. I'm sending my $20 today. Here's the address:

11624 West President Dr. #B

Bridgette rocks, man! :)

She's helped me out every time I've ever needed anything from CRK, and I'm a pretty demanding customer. I'm sure they cuss me at least twice a month around the shop.

My money order goes out Monday morning to the Bridgette/GB Knife fund...

Running total: $40.00.

Professor.

I'm in! I've been dealing with Bridget(spelled Bridget)for about 4 years now. She pretty much knows me by voice when I call. I think this is a wonderful idea! She most definitely deserves this. My $15 will go out Monday: :)

Running total= $55.00

The forums are slooow this weekend. Never thought we'd have to "BTTT" this one!.....

I thought this thread would be on fire. Seems that everything, everywhere is slow. Except for the various complaint departments, that is..... it's not good.

When I first joined Bladeforums in '98, a more positive, informative and appreciative environment existed. I think the members sincerely appreciated the fact that the various manufacturers and makers were here and so easy to communicate with. Now, I think the general opinion amongst forum members is that they almost have to be here in order to promote and support their product. I've heard that a couple times from those I've talked with. That's not true, folks. Nobody needs to talk to you or listen to you. If it gets to a point where they're sick of it all, then they won't talk to you or listen to you. We all tout what a great knife the Sebenza is. And, it is. What about the people behind the knife and the excellent service they give to support YOUR investment? Not just CRK, but also the various dealers. Whoever it happens to be that helps you out with your collection and your knife needs. Bridget helps MANY of us, not just the few who've already contributed here. I'm not trying to drum up more contributions, just making my point. I'm a little surprised, but I would have never started a thread like this if there was any chance that it would not meet it's objective. The knife will be purchased. It's just a little embarrassing that there are more people crying that your "Spyderco is sharper out of the box" than there are contributing to a well intentioned cause. BTW, if you can't sharpen it, than get the proper tools and learn how. Post a request to the forums for advice. Maybe it will spark more meaningful and productive exchanges of information. People might just jump in and help you. Maybe I even will.

I'd love to contribute, is this all set up and are CRK ready for the incoming payments? please email me, Farmer, thanks!

I just spoke with CRK and will be posting tomorrow after I speak with Anne, to confirm the system used for tracking all incoming payments and for Bridget to receive a card listing the names of all the contributors. The person I spoke with (not Bridget) said it's all no prob. Thanks James,

Pete

For us 'foreigners', it's not that simple to just send a money order. But, I'm planning to order a clip insert, so I'll ask Anne to add $10 to the Bridget fund as part of my order.

Edit: Anne confirmed she can handle this, so consider it done.

Just spoke with Anne. She thinks it's great and a very nice gesture. When it's all done, Bridget will receive a list of all contributors. NOW, to quote a great man, "LET'S ROLL". Let's get it done.

I have not had a chance to get to the forum in a week and so had missed this till Pete called me this morning! What a neat idea! I don't know how much luck we will have keeping it a secret from Bridget but we'll try. The most important thing to let you know is that both Bridget and I received emails addressed to crkinfo@chrisreeve.com. If you want to "talk" to me about this, please use areeve@chrisreeve.com and only I will receive the email!

Till later...
Anne

My $20.00 will go out tomorrow. Bridget is treasure and this is a great way of saying thanks.

I'm very fortunate to be able to deliver my contribution in person, which I did this morning.
Anne is touched by the outpouring of affection initiated by "farmer". I wish I'd thot of it. I've seen Bridget a lot and she's always as pleasant in person as she sounds over the phone. She certainly deserves this tribute. My $20 is in the pot. :) :)

Now, this is going along real well and picking up some steam!

Guys, please edit your posts and let me know how much you sent, so that I can figure out and post the running total.

Anne will also be keeping track on her end, so we know where we're at. Thanks,

Pete

Farmer, I am definately gonna be in. I need to ask Anne a few questions, But I'll have Anne add it to my account and let you know how much or/what. You/we may offer to let her put the monies toward a Calvary sebenza, She seemed pretty excited about that one too when they came to fruition....and it may even be something she could carry. Somehow when I think of Bridget I really don't picture her carrying a large fixed blade :)Although I could see her using it as a letter opener.... BTW CRK could/would handle that sale without me on that Calvary just so no one thinks I get anything out of it...

I agree with Tallpaul,,,Bridgette most likely would carry a small Sebenza with the Calvary anodized graphics.

When I last spoke with Bridgette,,,she stated that a Mnandi with Bocote inlays is always in her purse.

She is a wonderful asset to the CRK organization.

My check will be mailed tomorrow.

Regards,
FK
