A Little Something For Bridgette

Farmer,

Now that we're getting close to our goal, I have a couple thoughts/questions. Now, I addressed my letter with check to Anne. There is a letter inside to Bridget, so when she recieves the knife she can read the letter and reason why she's getting this. I'm wondering how Anne or Chris is planning on giving her the knife? Too bad we couldn't all sign a card or something. I sure would like to see the expression on Bridget's face when they give the Yarborough to her. Maybe Anne could take some pictures and post them here after. Just some thoughts...:)

We can all sign a card! I just talked to Ken at CRK yesterday about just that. If you guys want I could find a thank you card and start. we could do it! All we have to to is get a card and the first guy sends it to the next guy then him another etc.... If we kept it to a simple "our BF handle" then a signature there should be plenty of room and quick to do... the toughest would be the envelope I guess but if we used the usps priority letter package we could even keep the envelope nice. Let me know.

Would an IMO for $15 be ok? I'm not flush, but would like to help if possible! Bridget helped me a lot getting my damascus woody!:)

General, CRK is willing to accept credit cards, or, I'm sure, an IMO. Anne said she'd compile a list of who the gift is from. If you guys want to do more than that, start "piping in" and voice your opinions on that. I'm not the "boss". If a lot of you want to circulate a hand signed card, I'm in. As far as a picture of Bridget goes, I say we require her to post a picture of herself wearing the knife, but "calendar girl" material. Fully clothed, because we're all respectable folks, but you know what I mean.......

To bring you all up to date, we have done some sleuthing and are quite sure that she does want a Green Beret knife. We have also taken the liberty of having our whole staff sign the knife - as an added appreciation for everything she does and to ensure that the knife has special meaning for her. Chris and I were planning on presenting it to her at lunchtime on Wednesday (Oct 30)- Chris leaves on Thursday for the New York Custom Knife Show.

I was going to prepare a card - using the Blade Forums logo, explaining the concept, listing everyone's names and including the notes that you have all sent with the money orders etc. I think the idea of a card signed by everyone is a nice one but it might be a bit of a logistical nightmare to execute - we have 18 people contributing, one in Holland, one in Wales, 2 in Canada - and the rest spread all over the USA. If you are set on the idea, we can hold off on the presentation - just let me know!

I was planning on a photograph of the presentation - didn't think about the calender version :)!

If I include the $15 from The General, there has been $290 committed - at present (and I have not had Monday's mail yet) I have received $230.

We have also had some communication with Al Pilch - or IdaAl - who lives here in Boise and visits the shop regularly. He offered to make the presentation on behalf of everyone. I would suggest that, if he can be here, we all make the presentation together!

Let me know your thought...!

Anne

IMO is out as the min fee would be nearly twice what I am going to give, however what about a VISA DEBIT card? I can sort that out in the next 3-4 working days if thats ok?

I would like to sign the card, but if someone could sign it one my behalf that would be totally cool.:D

Thanks!

Things have been pretty active today! The committed amount is $395, the amount received is $330. I have not yet received the funds from four "committeds" !! What this means is that because you are such a great bunch of guys, Bridget is going to get flowers as well as a knife! I'll keep you posted - and if any one wants to contribute still, the flowers will just get bigger (or maybe it will be chocolates and flowers, or champagne, chocolates and flowers, or a whole barrel of Margaritas!!) :D :D :D

Anne

I am contributing $10 to the fund. After all that Bridget has done for me it's the least I can do. I only wish I could give more.

NOOOO... Do NOT hold the presentation for a seperate card. If we go ahead with that it can be totally seperate and will take too much time :) No harm done if it gets there well after the "event" !

Go ahead with the presention in Wedneday. Can't wait to see the pics.

At this point a card would probably be too hard.

Definitely. . .go forward with the presentation without the "specially signed card." I think that Bridget will get the drift as to how much we care for her. . .without it ! :D

Man. . .this is too cool ! We're getting down to the wire and I so happy that I could. . .

Well. . .ya'll get the drift ! :p

Hat's off to farmer for getting this thing started and making sure that the ball stayed on the straight and narrow !

Cheers to you dude !

Anne I will mail you on Friday with my card No and Exp Date, just gota hold out till I get paid on Friday and can put the funds in the bank!:p

Next question is what are we going to get for Anne? Seriously.

Here's the latest message that I received from Anne:

"As of this morning, we have $405 committed and $380 received. I have made a card on the computer, using the BF logo and listing all the names of those who have participated. Chris or I will make the presentation."

Anne sent the message yesterday (Tues), but I've been out of reach for a couple days. WE'RE DONE! NO MORE DONATIONS, PLEASE. Thanks,

Pete

I think it's great that so many jumped in on this. Buying a knife for Bridget is a great thing to do, but we've done a lot more than just that. Instead of posting the same old, endless threads over and over, we've actually DONE something. Not only that, we've done it as a group. We've given the forums a real "shot in the arm" by DEMONSTRATING that we identify and appreciate fine companies, fine products and fine people. This is a sign that we, as a group, are fine people. This sends a strong message not only to CRK, but to all the makers and maunfacturers that our group is made up of more than just the "whiners". In fact, they're a small percentage. It also sends a message to the SMALL percentage of makers and manufacturers who DON'T stand behind their products and don't put the customer first. The message is, "we're a fine group of people who appreciate fine products, ethical business practices and great service. If you don't understand that, then we don't need you." This type of message improves and elevates the entire industry.

Yep, what we've done says all that. Now, we don't have to be out buying knives for everyone who treats us right. There are many other ways to give a little back. The important thing is that we conduct ourselves in a manner that is a cut above the average person. The average person doesn't spend $400 on a knife. The quality, pride, customer service and overall attitude that went into that knife and the company or person who made it means more to us than it does to the average person. That's why we spend $400 on a knife and they don't. Bottom line and that's what you can tell someone when they ask why you'd ever spend so much money on something like a knife. We're a "cut above" and we've demonstrated that! I'm glad that I'm a member of this group!

Pete

Congratulations to all you, I can bet this is the first time forum members ever got together to honor a person and company in this manner.

You guys should be proud, well done!

It is also with regret that I didn't get my act together in time. Well, I'll more carful next time.
