A Matched Pair: GEC + Case

Thursday edition. Whittlers. Not totin’, but I am parin’.

This seahorse is not the prettiest thing I own, but it was the first slip joint I was given back in 2019 by my father-in-law. It introduced me to his collection (he had started it several years earlier without me knowing) and started me into this fun ride of cutlery.

Today’s morning walk was with Sam. We talked NFL mostly (favorite player is Trevor Lawrence) and a little bit of life. Zero shell collecting 😂.

And just like that…poof, the week is done. Got in a good walk with Joseph before we loaded up.

We headed back up the road to the “Upstate”, which is decidedly more orange (Clemson) in tendency. The orange peanut is my last Case knife and wraps up my GEC + Case pairing potential (without repeat offenders).

I’ll be back to Totin’ tomorrow. I had some great new knives waiting on me in the mail pile when I got back. They will no doubt dominate the pockets for the next while 👍🏼.

1979 Case 18 Stockman with the Bunny. All black for Friday. The 18 is my brother knife. It pairs with a 32 pattern stockman from 1977 I was able to give to my brother last year. Can’t be having Angry Waiter Angry Waiter and TXGatorbait TXGatorbait having all the fun with Case knives 😂.

Thanks man! It’s been fun. I didn’t originally intend for it to be my personal vacation thread 😂.

I’m gonna have to score some cool new Case knives before next year’s vacation so I can make some new pairings!
 
The annual beach vacation is next week, so I am gearing up my GEC + Case pairings for the week. 2023 was a big year of knife change and downsizing for me, so I’m not sure yet how many pairs I’ll come away with…but if I don’t have enough Case goodies, I’ll dip into my Father-in-law’s goodie drawers and raid some gems so that I/we can have some fun.

Post up your favorite GEC + Case pairs as we go. T’will be fun.
