A new EDC? Winners in post #65!!!

This is so awesome, thank you.
I'd be so pleased if I won #6, it looks incredible to me and I don't have a wallet!
I'd have to scour the earth to find my old baseball mit (a lefty.) I remember losing it before a game and playing with a replacement righty glove. :o I think they stuck me in deep center.
Please please please count me in.

I'm guessing your favorite player is Babe Ruth, he did a stint with a third team but I don't think he pitched there. Tricky wording on the hint! :D Just kidding, I'll be back to guess again I'm sure.

W:eek:W!! Thanks Jennifer! I'm in for #11 the new Opinel. Don't have one and have been wanting to try one. I will dig up my ball glove for a chance at one of your fine leather wallets.
My guess at your favorite player - Dave Rozema (He was a babe magnet )

Thanks so much for the chance!

I'm in. I'd be tickled to win item #6, but have to say all the leather goods look fantastic and it's neat that you're repurposing the leather into something useful. Here's a pic of my daily carry knife & a favorite revolver. Both are wrapped in elk horn. No telling how many strawberries and grapefruit I've cut with this knife.

This is actually my first post on the forum. I've just gotten into knives in the last couple of years and found this forum a few weeks back and have been looking around. It seems like this is a community full of friendly and generous people.

I am also a big baseball fan and this post really caught my eye. This is such a great GAW! Your wallets are really creative and cool. I'm not sure if I qualify to enter but I'd like to at least guess your favorite player.

How about Sandy Koufax. 6'2" lefty who hit right handed. Played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers.

That last part might be a stretch I guess but everything else fits.

I think that your wallets look fantastic Jennifer, what a great idea. For me, there is nothing nicer than something someone has made with thought and care. I really like what you have done with the Opinels too

As you probably know, baseball is not big here (somewhat of an understatement ;) ), but strangely I've had a miniature baseball bat lying around on my coffee table for the past few months, while I figure out what to do with it. How it ended up in Leeds market I have no idea! :D Also, while I've not worn it for 25 years, I'm the owner of a very fancy Chevignon baseball jacket, with fine green leather bonded over black sheepskin, a present from a very wealthy client, the owner of a famous US sporting club, and something else I need to figure out what to do with sometime! :D

This is an extremely thoughtful, generous, and fun giveaway, and I'd be more than happy to win any example of your work, but since I think the named items should go to a baseball fan, I'll plump for that very fine wallet in position number 6 please. In short, I'm in, and with thanks :)

Here's a pic of a pesky squirrel who tried to relieve me of my current favourite folder (don't worry folks, I got it back!) :)

Good luck everyone and thanks again

Jack

Splendid GAW idea! I'm not eligible, since this is my first post (just registered last Sunday), but I want to comment on the cool wallets. By coincidence (or is it Grand Design?), I took apart one of my old ball gloves about a week ago; it was fascinating to see how a glove is constructed. My original intent was to try to repurpose some of the leather to make some strops; haven't actually done that yet. But I made a pocket sheath (by just ripping out some seams in part of the glove's webbing) and a couple of thumb guards for whittling out of components of the glove. They're pictured (I hope, I'm totally new to this image-sharing stuff!) along with a World War II era catcher's mitt below. A Taylor Schrade 44OT is peeking out of the sheath. Apologies for the picture quality; I'm no photographer, and in fact, the shot was taken with my MacBook's built-in camera.

As for guessing your favorite player, I really have no clue. But JayHawker32's guess is totally inspired; if it's not correct, it ought to be!

Thanks 5K Qs. I really like that pocket sheath. I would love to do that but would have a hard time taking apart one of my old gloves. I may have to stop by Play It Again Sports sometime.

Also, I wanted to apologize if I was out of line by posting a guess to the trivia question. I obviously have no idea if I'm right or not, but if I am I certainly do not expect to receive a prize, this being the first time I've posted on the forum. I just couldn't help myself.

Nothing to apologize for Dan. This is a great forum and we're glad to have you here. I think Jennifer appreciates your enthusiasm, I know I do. :D

Awesome giveaway, Jenn! I am in for one of those sweet wallets. I especially like the ones with the writing still on them so there's no question where it came from!

Here is a pic of my favorite (sorry no glove, I'm not much into sports :))

What a strange and I must say slightly scary looking possum JackBlack:)

:thumbup:Markesharp is right Dan. Nothing to apologize for here. I'm glad to see people posting pics and making guesses. To me it is a lot of fun and I hope it is for everyone else! And by the way, feel free to enter as well.

Thanks to everyone who has posted today. I'm enjoying seeing your guesses - although my favorite has yet to be named - and all the cool pics of knives, gloves, and oversized squirrels! My daughter is having a blast too. I am positive she is already planning our next traditional purchase! And 5K Qs, glad to see great minds think alike. I keep everything when I take gloves apart - you can really find lots of useful parts to repurpose! Love to see more of your ideas as you go along with your project. And yes, play it again sports is a great place to find old gloves.
And by the way, Jack (if I may call you that), you might want to save that miniature baseball bat to chase away your squirrels! They grow them big in your neck of the woods! :)

Somebody say Squirrel?? Here in Scandinavia (and Continental Europe) we have the Red Squirrel. This is one during late winter, March, feeding from a special feeder with hinged lid opened by the Squirrel's head. She was a keen diner last winter and I think she has given birth to youngsters, they are very entertaining to watch. Another reason I like the GEC stainless knives with their acorn & squirrel etch:D:cool:

Very cool wallets Jenn! I love the idea.
Here is a picture my Mom gave to me yesterday. It is me back in my knife knut days.:D

My guess today is pitcher Randy Johnson, who exceeded six feet tall, pitched left handed, and batted right handed.

I was thinking Randy Johnson too but I am pretty sure he played for 4 or 5 teams.

Alright my Guess is Rube Bressler! Pitched for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Cincinatti Reds before moving onto other positions and other teams. Was 6'0" and threw with his left but batted with his right. How about that?
