703 showed up today. I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow or Saturday. This gives me one of each of the 700 series. They're not matched or anything, and there are 2 and 3 spring version of a couple of them so I can't claim a complete set, but its probably as complete as its going to get
Been some Great pictures and knives posted so far in this slanted thread! Thank You ALL !!
Always did like the different bolster "treatments". Like holding a custom with mitered joints or a pocketknife with a Washington bolster, the slanted bolster certainly adds interest in my book!
Just seems to me like the cutler has to take an extra pride having the bolster to cover material come to a perfect fit on an angled cut as apposed to a certain length square to square cut. To me it's kinda like having half stops, shows more of the cutlers craftsmanship.
The Half slant is also!!
Feel there should be more slanted bolsters available, I like them a lot it adds sleekness plus it makes hafting a bit more challenging perhaps.
Buck is a big and reliable exponent of them and the Forum Knife 2018 gave us I believe, the only slant bolstered knife in the range.
Here's an Original (2014) GEC 82 Dixie in Blackwood with slant bolsters. This run was I feel, better than the later issue which did not have any slanted options and offered tamer snap. It did spawn the really nice Possum Skinner though, a big slender two blade single-spring. The Dixie itself offers an interesting variation of blades. California Clip master, Wharncliffe and Drop-Point secondaries, but they are large blades too. I 'd love to see a small version of this in 3 3/8 or 3.5"
Schatt&Morgan Mini Muskrat, note the near sunk-joints. One of the few knives I've never been able to sharpen It's supposed to be their stainless 420C so ought to be straightforward but.....probably D2 knowing what Queen got up to near the end it is very well finished though.
