Our forum namesake and good friend Yangdu is quite upset and bothered by the response of a very recent customer who incidentally lives in France.
I'm not certain yet if he's a member here on bladeforums or not. I've sent him an email to try to start a conversation to deal with this in a polite more human way. I'm not optimistic based on the emails that Yangdu shared with me.

I share this situation mostly for the benefit of new members. The old already know Yangdu well and know there isn't anybody with higher moral standards and the desire to do good things for everyone she meets.

Anyhow this fella, we'll call him Mr. France orders a 12 Sirupati. Yangdu provided a price and the shipping cost which he immediately complained about and said a competitor ships cheaper. So she offered to ship for 35 bucks, remember this is to France. Well she said it cost her more than that to actually ship the thing.

Well Mr. France receives the knife and immediately goes off that she mislead and false advertised and that it's actually an 8" knife. Yangdu of course explained that HI always uses overall length as the length because of the blade curve etc etc etc.......

He's not happy, made all kinds of threats both physically and legally. All of which have zero merit as it's listed probably in at least 20 places that HI uses over all length. Threatened to make a youtube post and bring down HI every way he can.

I post this at Yangdu's request and to remind everybody about the length thing. We all know auntie knows no bounds when it comes to trying to keep people/customers happy.

This fella said he would destroy the knife and HI since he ordered a knife from the competitor (3 guess's who?) Hoping he destroys it before the other arrives so when he see the disparity in quality he'll hate himself all the more.

I feel bad for Yangdu, she's quite distraught over this deal and I've assured her there's really no need to be. Can't please everyone.

So Mr. France, I'm not sure if your a member here or not, I'm hoping not. If you are please know that Yangdu and HI and myself especially have no desire to try and make you happy any longer.
Your visits are no longer welcome.

The slightest bit of common courtesy probably would have got you a knife you really wanted at a more than fair price but alas the bridge is burned. I rarely find myself upset enough to use the term but you sir are dead to me.

So for everybody else, have a happy day and a better tomorrow.

I think I'll send Yangdu 25 bucks just because I love her and maybe it will help her feel better although she'll probably give it to somebody she feels needs it more than her but that's ok.

I'd send more iffen I had it, I truly would.

I am a very happy and satisfied customer. I want to thank Yangdu for being such a great and honorable person. There are all kinds of people in this world and she is a good one!
 
I just received a response from Mr. France with the same threats and innuendo's. Thought sure he'd settle down and show a tiny bit of compassion but not a bit.

Picture Yangdu on one end of the scale, Mr. France is on the extreme other end of the scale.
 
He sounds like a pretty despicable excuse for a human being. Anyone that would threaten a woman especially the caliber of Auntie needs a field adjustment. With all the information out there in regards to the measurement of HI product he may not be the brightest bulb or he made a hasty decision he now regrets. In either case they are not Aunties fault. Almost all here are big brothers to Auntie, I'd suggest he tread lightly.
 
Yandgu, the kamis, and HI are wonderful. Auntie has always been honest and more than fair in our dealings. If this person treated her like this, I feel pity for him, as his life must really be a truly ugly existence.
 
HI make an amazing product that is equal to none all of the French that I have meet have been rude and we can all testify for HI quality and awesome customer service I wouldn't let 1 disgruntled person that isn't familiar with the way things are run around here worry Auntie there are enough of us to take up her and the amazing people at HI if he would do some research and make an informed purchase he wouldn't have been cross about his purchase and if he made physical threats i would assume thats enough proof that she or HI wouldn't have to worry about the legal threats . We all respect and love auntie and HI!!!!!

Please let us not use this thread to insult the French or Mr. France in particular. I mean there has to be some good people in France. I've never been there so I don't really know.

I seemed to have at least diverted his hate and threats. Now they are coming to my address. Truly a piece of work this one.

I have no concerns really, Crappiejosh nailed it. It's all out there, all he had to do was ask. Had he responded in a human polite manner and expressed his unhappiness, I have no doubt Yangdu would have taken care of it even at a loss.

We have visitors from Sweden, wife's cousin and her daughter, they are very nice.

OH well, be happy.
 
I agree what Mateos said - that person must be living a miserable life. When there's a problem just fix it, no reason to make threats over a miscommunication.

My first HI was an AK with handle too short for comfortable chopping - absolutely ZERO problem exchanging for Pen Knife that is perfect!! and Yangdu even threw in surprises including something for my wife when we came to Reno.

I'm heartbroken Yangdu is upset, but it will pass as she is the kind of person who finds joy. That sad man in France will always be miserable no matter what anyone does for him.

From a karmic perspective, I cannot fathom what a horrendously idiotic and self defeating idea it is to attack Auntie Yangdu in this way. There is a part of me that genuinely pities this person, the rest of me is blindingly angry.

I'm not certain he's even a bladeforum member. I'm still trying to determine that but if he is I will certainly take advantage of our new found relationship and have you pull his plug.
I can send you his name and email, perhaps from your end you can confirm if he is a member or not.

Mr. France is an unhappy soul, and to pick on a woman just shows he's not a "man" in any definition of such. I have relatives in France, and if he needs adjusting, that can be arranged, since several cousins are LEOs over there, and they aren't exactly on the straight and narrow; every once in awhile, they may stray "from the path", to right a wrong.

Auntie will find peace, because that is what she does, I think many of us here though, find it a little bit harder to forgive. I feel sorry for the poor soul if he decides to come stateside and attempt to physically hurt auntie or Bawanna, because he will be just asking for a "world of hurt", which I am sure several BF buddies here would love to attend a "ass whupping" event.

I have learned that there are some people you cant make happy no matter what you do for them. It's upsetting to me (pisses me off actually) that he comes at Auntie like that. As far as his childish threats to take down HI, GOOD LUCK with that!!!!!! The reputation that HI has cannot be tarnished in my humble opinion. We had another problem child (named after a country) a year or so ago, that played games as well and it ultimately got him banned talking about the other guys khuks. Trash like this comes and goes. I hope Auntie lets this breeze bye and not give him a worry. Her family here will always have her back!!!!!!!!!!!!
