I think you can leave comments on youtube can't you.

It continues to spew his venomous threats to me now, don't bother me a bit. If the urge to respond strikes me, I'll respond, sometimes it's more effective to just ignore him. Like a scab, don't pick at it and it'll heal faster.

Every once in a while one runs into one of these nasty types that lash out at the slightest frustration.

As for physical threats, I doubt that there's one chance in a million that this character would actually travel from France to the U.S. If he's angry about paying for a blade that was "too short" then he obviously doesn't have the funds for international travel, especially over such a minor issue. Also, a person who gets so angry over a small issue must have a long list of grievances and enemies, most of whom will be much closer to home.

Yangdu must have his shipping address, since she sent him a blade. If the guy turns this into some kind of vendetta, it might become worthwhile for Cul to ask his LEO relatives to check him out, if they are in the same area or can locate him in a French police database.

I hardly ever post on here, snagged a half dozen or so DOTDs a couple years ago and am quite happy with them, but I don't get over to this forum very often. I'm more of a gun guy than a knife guy really. Happened to stop in tonite and saw this thread.
I always found Yangdu perfectly pleasant to deal with in our limited interactions that we had, plus I was always impressed with her handling of, and devotion to, her business.

Well Mr. France receives the knife and immediately goes off that she mislead and false advertised and that it's actually an 8" knife. Yangdu of course explained that HI always uses overall length as the length because of the blade curve etc etc etc.......

He's not happy, made all kinds of threats both physically and legally. All of which have zero merit as it's listed probably in at least 20 places that HI uses over all length.

Even if HI weren't repeatedly saying the length refers to "overall length", what idiot sees the length of a knife listed as 12" and assumes that just refers to the blade itself, or a straight line measurement from end to end ? The assumption should be that the quoted length refers to the overall length, along the contours of the item in question, unless specifically stated otherwise.

So what? Then there will be like one negative HI review on Youtube. From the sounds of things, anything he puts out will be immediately identifiable as the work of some deranged internet malcontent with a grudge. Heck, in this day in age having an unstable online nemesis could almost be considered très chic.


Anyway, I used my KLVUK the other day to clear out a bunch of overgrown shrubbery from around the house I just bought. It worked great.

I'm not making any aquisations but, it's common knowledge that males from some of the middle eastern countries don't have a high regard for women nor a particular fondness for the US in general. Funny I offered to do just that. Yangdu did that very thing with a fella a year ago raising all kinds of fuss. Keep the knife, here's your money back, go away and fortunately he finally did.

First I offered to send this guy his 35 bucks shipping cost that Yangdu said wasn't enough to cover it. His response was he didn't want my 35 bucks he wanted the knife that he ordered.

I asked if he requested that from Yangdu, like an exchange, funny he skirted that question somehow.

I'm putting him on ignore. I have not worries at all, he certainly won't come over here and if he did I'd welcome it.

His threats are very thin and the legal ones are meaningless. The thing that gets me the most is upsetting Yangdu.

I just won't tolerate that from anybody, no matter where they are from.

He didn't order 12 Sirupatis. He ordered a 12" Sirupati, which in HI lingo means 12" OAL (and it is measured in a straight line, from tip to pommel). The guy thought it was a 12" blade, which would have made the OAL about 18", and that's why he was upset. Although the real reason he was upset was undoubtedly something else. Maybe he's been having a bad year, or he wasn't burped right as a baby.

Please let us not use this thread to insult the French or Mr. France in particular. I mean there has to be some good people in France. I've never been there so I don't really know.

I seemed to have at least diverted his hate and threats. Now they are coming to my address. Truly a piece of work this one.

I've been in France. Wonderful country, great culture, and the French people are truly some of the most hospitable you'll find in Europe. Mr. France is most decidedly NOT indicative of the the typical French person.

Being in business for 30 years I have wonderful HI knife collectors from France and they are wonderful folks! Now and then we have difficult person to deal with.

he might be a parisian. a french friend i worked with once told me that the french, in general, do not like foreigners, and the parisians even more so. parisians define 'foreigner' as anyone from outside paris' 20 arrondissements - and the members from the central (lower number) arrondissements dislike those fro the outer ones... my co-worker was a good one, he moved from france to the UK to get away from the madness. there are, like my friend, exceptions. another consideration is the large number of illegal immigrants living in certain areas that do not like anybody, even themselves.

the UK has voted to leave the confused undemocratic miasma that is the European Union. 'bout time we got on with it. of course the UK is not fond of the french, and visa versa. normandy, and aquitaine provinces used to be part of england, till that nutcase witch joan stirred it all up & the french stole them from us after promising us we could keep them - after we slaughtered them at agincourt. they of course broke their promise.

someone once said here that france is a great country, as long as you do not have to deal with the people. another once said we should build a 100 metre high wall around the country and then fill it with water. figuratively of course as there are lots of parts over 100 metres elevation. it would be difficult to build a 4100 metre high wall to get all of it submerged. to get paris, for instance, you'd need about a 200 meter wall, which would get most of western france. the eastern part is a lot higher & mountainous and the people are a lot nicer, in general, so we could let them join italy or austria, and maybe the swiss would put up with a few. the swiss don't take any BS.
