A RAT Pack reward idea

I just had an idea. What if on new products RAT would allow the Rat Pack members first chance at their RAT Serial # on new products? Like say you were member 120 and they come out with that awesome folder. RAT would send you a email giving you first shot at the folder with serial# 120. Is it just me or would that not be pretty cool? Seems it would be a great reward for being a loyal RAT Pack member as well as maybe driving initial release sales for RAT. I don't have my number yet, but hopefully someday.

I don't know it's late/early and the lack of sleep is setting in....

I think history has proven that even though it's such fun, they would rather concentrate on making products rather than maticulasly print and complexly distribute knives to people that can't read too good.

yea thats a whole lotta work..... let the guys make the stuff and we can sort out getting it.... there pretty good telling us when stuffs ready.... and Mrs. shoty might have a melt down she already does so much for us

Seems like a good idea on paper, but after the RAT Pack knife project I doubt it'll happen. Too many people can't use common sense to follow simple guidelines.

but then again, the whole ratpack thing is of course the best marketing idea a knife company has come up with recently.

Everybody in the rat pack promotes RC.

Don't kill a good idea. Use it. Rat Cutlery could easily hire a student or the likes to just handle the orders: low cost, great customer loyalty, LOADS of free publicity...

seems like a no brainer to me. Great Idea!!!

you might want to ask Jeff and Mrs.Shotty about no brainers ...

And actually, RAT Cutlery was most likely not intended as an collectors service knife distributor.

I'd say: go find all the threads organizing the Rat Pack knife, read all the posts in it, and read them thoroughly - then talk again about "no brainer".

Ungh, sounds cool, but for the amount of stress, and idiocy that became involved, The stresses of getting out certain #'s to certain people, and then having to feed your dealer network on top of that with a now hop-podged mix of serials, and the fact not everyone in the RP would be buying the knife, so you've got nearly 500 of a product tied up in god knows what, when you already maintain a zero debt balance, so low stock margins, and short-run products like the Junglas and rat-pack.

It sounds easy...but in practice it's a cluster. Gimme a random serial number, I just want a knife that cuts stuff and stays on my hip....that gets them all the loyalty they need. The benefit of having a numbers matching set isn't worth someone having to go through all that.

Of course it sounds crazier after a couple hours of sleep, but minus the headache for RAT it sounded cool.

Actually a cool thing would be a special engraving everyone could get together and have done with their number would be cool as well. Maybe just get everyone to prepay for it, have a huge shipment sent to someone who does special engraving, your number and special symbol is added and out they go :)

I don't know as stated it was an early morning rambling. Just thought I would love to be able to explain to a neophite when I whipped it out about MY special numbered blade for being a member of the pack.....

Well Toowork, regardless of whether or not it was a good idea, I think you should be commended for your enthusiasm, and the fact that you are already taking pride in belonging to a great community, even before you have your number.

Yes, Please, for the love of GOD!

Not again.

I agree that it's not worth the effort for RAT cutlery to entertain this idea. On the other hand I wonder if a thread allowing RAT pack members to try to do an exchange with one another for their #'s would work out.

OK, who has Izula #317? I don't care what condition it's in. :)

I doubt they will do this because they did not number the extra RP RC-3 which already set up to do it on the first batch.

i think it would be easier to have your number laser engraved. but another idea could be to do a passaround of new products with RP members. and than raffle it off or sell it at the end. i dont know it sounds interesting. it would give RP members first crack at new products and it would fun to be able to try out the new designs.

I know they won't do it, this was an early morning lack of sleep dream rousted from the deep recesses of my twisted mind. I just thought it would be cool if you were a RAT'er to have our own number on all your blades. I am sure there is another way to do something similar with a lot less work. I will figure out another idea when the sleep deprivation sets in again. Oh just wait for that.

Mrs.shotgunner11 stop reading now. If the first idea caused twitches, the next might just end in a stroke :)
