A RAT Pack reward idea

nr 317?
It's absolutely pink. PM me to pick it up :D

I knew it was going to be pink. :( I guess I'll pass. :D

Okay, imagine this possibility if you will then. You have #656 and someone is RP #656 and so you trade him for his #444 even though you are RP #345. Now you have #345 and SOMEONE ELSE with RP #345 pops up and wants it so you trade again and end up with number 42 which STILL isn't your number, ad infinitum and you're just juggling knives. It wouldn't work really. :(

It doesn't have to be that complicated. If someone has your number and sells it to you then they can buy another. Deal's over. I personally think having more than 1 Izula is a good thing so I don't see getting rid of #3442 any time soon.

They could easily just start general production at serial #1,000 and produce the first 1,000 as they are ordered by RP members. If you don't think this might be worth it just think about Franklin mint and sports apparel. People LOVE to have tokens of groups they belong too. It also adds mystique to people who come across these items. You see it as trouble, I saw it as great buzz, reward for your most fanatic fans, something cool for proud RP members. They could even charge $5/$10 more each to offset the small amount of extra work.

I mean to be honest the whole serial number thing is pointless. As far as manufacturing they could just use a production code somewhere that it is not seen. And to be honest a lower serial number means you are getting the very first, while a latter one in the series may be better if they happen to catch issues after the initial release. It's sorta like buy a new model car.

I know some could care less, some think it is a pain, and some like it. The whole point of the post was just saying it would be cool if you had multiple products like most RT's and had the same serial on each. It would also make me more likely to even buy some I might not otherwise to keep the series intact(hint: more overall sales).

The hidden production code is on the right side of the knife under the scales.

Having 1,000 knives on the side sounds simple, until you realize a few things. That's $100,000 on average worth of product sitting around, for no reason. That's a bad call for a company. Reserving the numbers and zapping them on blanks as ordered sounds simple; but it isn't. From what i gather, the manufacturing process isn't setup for this. Retooling your production line and workflow, not viable.

As for all the talk of deserving a reward.... That kind of bothers me. They make a great knife. I buy it. I like it. Deal done. I come here because I enjoy knives and survival skills. I learn from people here, and I hope I'm able to teach others from my own experiances. That's what this forum is about. It's not something I feel the need to request a reward for. RAT is very generous to it's customers with contests and giveaways. The idea that a company owes a reward that would insanely incumber them, is preposterous. The idea I get around here is to come, share info, and a love for knives as tools and learn better ways to care for them, use them, and improvise under less than ideal conditions. The only reward that anyone should look for is knowledge. Not cool numbers. If you really need that, things remembered can hook you up at the mall

why shouldn't we be rewarded? :D

What the hell has any "ratpack" member done; aside from having an interest in a certain knife, joining a forum, frequenting a sub-forum and posting 25 interjections. 60% of which consist of asking, "what oil should I use?" "Times are hard where can I get a rat blade for less than it is worth?" "when is there going to be a folder?" "how well would a rat knife throw?" and the more common "haha, cool, yea, good point." Not that there is anything wrong with exchanging, communicating with others that share a similar interest and even asking the same redundant questions prior to searching the previous posts where your answers may reside. I just dont see any of that as constituting a "reward" unless of course you as a member go above and beyond to make this an informative useful tool section of bladeforums. For instance... Ms. Shotgunner- goes above and beyond to get shit out and about, designs logos.. just busts her ass.
Texastony- If im wanting to branch off or change/ reorg. my psk's, im talking to that guy.
Mr. shotgunner (Hubs)-If your needing kydex or just having issues with sheathing in gen. he is the guy I call
Fortytwoknives- Seriously if im wanting info on avil. dealer merch or knife gadets/sheathing pouches bags so on...and not to mentioned by far the most laid back approachable personality on here. imo
Mr. Coffee- generosity and balls the size of melons (getting shit on for 3days and not bitching but rather looking at it and saying "I almost needed to be rescued." and learning/ applying and moving forward.)
There are many others that do there part Luckykitty, snakedoc etc.
I see that as constituting rewarding, and the reality is, I think all of them do receive such just rewards.
The Rat Pack # means jack shit; the contributions and values of an individual stand a greater position in my eyes.

well what do the people do? if they are anything like me they buy a RAT knife and give useful advice and in the process become a person that will turn to RC knife for a hard use fixed blades. now there are some people that want the number for numbers sake. i dont care what they do that is their prerogative. the Rat Pack is also a great marketing idea and it gives some people a sense of community. and geez i was just kidding. i wasnt asking to get jumped or nothing. i also agree that the moderators and other members you mentioned do more than their fair share of hard work to make this forum run.

Would some moderator PLEASE lock this forum.

WOW never again will I EVER make the mistake of dreaming on this forum. I can tell just by some of the responses alone it would never work. I cannot believe how serious anyone could take this. I thought it would just be fun and cool. I NEVER expected it to come about or to be taken serious. We have a LOT more things in this world to worry about, hunger, disease, living, love, etc....... For anyone to waste their time and anger here on this thread is really just a waste.

SO PLEASE Mrs.shotgun11, Shotgun11 anyone that can - lock this thing and let it die........

Crowdog. I believe you neglected to mention me only as an oversight, and for that, I forgive you. I shall add it only as an addendum so as not to mar your earlier post or confuse the masses here.
Iboschi- Rarely has any useful insight and is apparently just here to be spit on and slapped around. He harasses me in every third post, and for that I am forever ungrateful. May he rot in hell :D

P.S. I stole your colin farrell gif. Please forgive me!

I respect your intentions; dreamers bring new life and energy to this world so please dont allow this forum to deter you, if this forum does you were never strong enough to will any of your dreams to fruition anyways and they are no better than masterbation. Would you rather people to not take your ideas seriously? Im not angry at you or your dreams, I did not read every other persons post so I am not sure if im unaware of a neg vibe in previous posts but please dont feel as though I am cutting you down; it was not my intention to do so with the opinion I have.

I think OP's can lock their own threads. If I'm correct, check out the drop down menu under thread tools.

I just had an idea. What if on new products RAT would allow the Rat Pack members first chance at their RAT Serial # on new products? Like say you were member 120 and they come out with that awesome folder. RAT would send you a email giving you first shot at the folder with serial# 120. Is it just me or would that not be pretty cool? Seems it would be a great reward for being a loyal RAT Pack member as well as maybe driving initial release sales for RAT. I don't have my number yet, but hopefully someday.

I don't know it's late/early and the lack of sleep is setting in....

Just an idea is ok but in reality to much work for little reward...if you was here during the RP knife begining you'd see an Idea go down hill , the RP Knives were a good Idea but a bigger headache in the end.... Just remember you can not please everyone !!
