Back in the late 1990s Jerry Busse experimented and developed a super strong folder – called the CUBERA (for one of the meanest fish in the sea) to complement his super strong fixed blades. The Cubera featured a “BLOCK” locking device which was a compression lock – which Jerry received patents for – but for some reason never followed through and put in to production. Only a few prototypes exist today of this very rare and unique knife.

How many were made, and where are the rest of them?

Wow. That looks real enough to me. Been waiting to see that thing for a while. I wonder if this means something, or if somebody is in big trouble.

The grind lines on that thing do look a little shady. Hmmm.

i can not afford such amount of money for knife, though she is a perfect one!
i love infi folder made by talanted Jerry and i love Jerry too.:D:D:D
i am not a gay:D:D

While i'm anxiously awaiting the Busse folder, I hope he waits off a few more years so I can get out of school and actually be able to afford it :D

If the knife in those photos is the real Busse folder, then I believe Jerry has made the right decision to not produce it. That thing is flat-out ugly. The lock is very interesting, but the rest of the knife has some serious design problems.

Who is the guy selling it... I think its a pretty D%CK move on his part. He better be funding a heart transplant or something. Even a 1000$ will only last a couple of months but the loss of integrity lasts forever!! :barf::rolleyes::D

I think Jerry realized how much of a PITA it is to make a folder vs. a fixed blade. The Swamp Folders were only out for a limited time. Never to be made again. Too much headache, IIRC.

Looks hollow-ground. Has Jerry ever made a hollow-ground knife???

I thought people had to sign something saying they'd never sell it and never post pictures of it or anything of that nature. Am I wrong?

It looks.....interesting. It would def be something to talk about if it is indeed real and you owned it. But I think your not supposed to even talk about it.

how so?

there is a difference between functional design and aesthetic design. if you have any functional design arguments against it, i'd be interested in hearing them. obviously the thing is pretty bad looking, but from a user stand point the only thing I see that's bad is the raised serrated locking mechanism, wich would bit into the crook of your your hand as you used it. the aluminum being slippery is easily overcome with micarta slabs, or cnc texturing. the handle shape, blade shape, blade positioning all make for a very basic very usable functional design despite it's lack of visual appeal.

it's worth keeping in mind that "prototype" implies unfinished. jerry had his sar5 prototype design put into production and he professed a marked dislike ("hatred") of it. he would have never put it into production in that form had he caught it before garth started making them.
