I've been really happy with my Bahco Laplander.

I got one for Christmas and it is pretty nice, just used it to clean up in the yard a couple times so far, but it is really nice, cuts better than the other 3 folding saws I have by far.

I already buy too many knives so I want to buy just one saw and not start another collection :D

Would the laplander fit the bill ya think?

I will be offering a clipped and hollow ground version of the Yuma, It will be available at this coming Blade show, Its going to be a skinners/hunters dream, I dont know yet if Im going to call it a Yuma or something different, but it is a clipped and hollow ground version of it, stay tuned, its gonna be a nice piece.
Dern my broke rear, Todd... I was hoping to have the first clipped one. :( Oh well, I might have to run down sometime soon and play around them though. :D That's great news though. Sounds like some fun stuff coming down the pipe.

they are pretty cheap so it wouldn't break the bank to get one and if you don't like it, someone will buy it off you for sure.. I wouldn't mind having an extra one for the house :)

Does anyone have an Opinel folding saw? Or, can anyone recommend a folding saw to me?

Well technically the Sven Saw folds (after you unscrew the wing-nut :D)

Also gives you a 15" blade will little worry of bending

some of the discussions in the general forum are ridiculously stupid...

Discussing anything of note in General is usually very much like teaching a pig to sing... it wastes your time and only serves to annoy the pig.

I pop in there now and then just to keep my name in front of people. Some of those folks actually buy good knives... not just sit around and worry if they're opening deploying their folders too often. :p

I think you can summarize the entire thread with the quote below.

Too true! No matter how they make it, people will be unhappy with it :D

One of those arguments in which everyone is right and everyone is wrong...depending on personal preference.

A very good point. And you're better heeled than with a Laplander. Not a whole lot bigger either.

I think a saw is one of the most important things you can carry. I don't like to do even an overnighter without one. The little Opinel is really handy for campcraft stuff like making pot supports and the like. Not going to feed a fire with it.

The wife and I have been discussing ditching cable in favor of xbox live and Netflix. I think I could be ok with putting my shows a year behind.

I like the Bahco and Sven saw, and I've recently become a fan of the Silky saws. The Big Boy is a beast!

This is how mine is set up. Do it and don't look back. Cable isn't worth the money.

You might also want to look into a Chromecast. You might now have to put your favorite shows off a year if there is a good spot to watch them online. The little chromecast gyzmo is supposed to let you view your browser (If Chrome) TV as well as allow you to stream netflix, etc... I just run an HDMI cable to the laptop if there is something I want to watch online and don't want to wait for netlfix to catch up. We have a little Roku box we got on sale for the other TV that streams netflix etc... It works pretty well too.

I've used a few different folding saws (though not Silky or Laplander, which are usually mentioned as the best), but have really come to like the Sven instead.

It's pretty light weight and Made in the USA ta boot!

I went in Target yesterday and fell victim to the siren song of the new Stanley cookset.

Plus one on the Laplander. Great, sturdy little saw that weighs basically nothing and fits in pretty much any pack.

The cheapo Coughlans saws actually work quite well too, but they're not as sturdy... especially in regards to the lock.

We have the most very basic cable available and have a ps3 for Netflix and youtube we only havecable cause cComcast thru it in with the super duper light speed internet...

This is probably why I only stick to the inane discussions here....;)

Or, just ditch cable and (gasp) not watch TV.....I know, heresy, right? But it does give you a lot more time to f...mess around in the shop. Plus after a while, you don't even know what shows are even on anymore. I got Comcast so my family could watch the Olympics and I'm already regretting it...it'll just be harder to take it back in a couple weeks and they've already billed me for more than what they told me it would be; and since I don't have them as my ISP I'm having difficulty watching the extra content on NBC on the web (even tho the local office told me it would be "no problem"), since they are owned in a large part by Comcast. It's all the frustrating reasons why I told them to stick it in the first place. Rat bastards.

All this talk about saws....don't you guy know anything? That is what axes are for! So just get rid of those saws, and send your big choppers to me, since you shouldn't be using them for processing wood anyway. Sheesh. Everyone knows that.

Pretty much the same deal here. They "bundle" it to make it almost cost-prohibitive to only get one service :thumbdn: By the time we add up phone and internet service separately, adding DirectTV is essentially free. Now that football season is over, and considering we just don't watch many movies, we'll be stripping as many extras off the cable package as possible, though.

I'm waiting without much enthusiasm to see how it all pans out when internet providers start deciding for themselves which sites/services their customers can access. The whole idea behind that is so they can basically force you to buy their crappy TV packages and pay for a bunch of channels you don't want, because they'll block you from using the other content/streaming providers with your computer/pad whatever. I'd look into that pretty closely before signing up for anything on NetFlix, HULU, Xbox live, etc...

Opinel is a great little saw. Fits in your pants pocket and razor sharp. Laplander is probably the gold standard and has a little more reach. Here's a size comparison. I do like them both.

I have both, quite nice. The Opinel is really close in size to a #12 knife. Very handy size, both are very light.

I did that a while ago and have been pretty happy. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon instant are all developing original series now too. The only downside to being a season behind is it's difficult to not come across spoilers for the popular shows like Walking Dead and Dexter.
