I get them to cut OK, it's more that now my standards are much higher...and I don't generally live up to them. Too many pictures of polished blades...

Heh. I don't much bother with the polished edge.
Coarse, fine, strop. Get the first two steps right and the strop just reveals your good work. Doubt I spend as much as 5 minutes on an edge anymore unless it's badly battered.

Regarding salt, we have here in town a little boutique called "the Salt Cellar". They carry every type of salt imaginable, even block salt cutting boards (unbelievable with slicing tomatoes and serving sushi)

Back on my first ship (~10 years ago) we discussed collecting salt from the water evap and labeling it with coordinates, signed by the captain. Figured it would be a huge hit in NYC and other upscale markets. Would have been a good beer money strategy.

Here recently I've been killing this Northwest Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt I've gotten ahold of.

There's a member here whose wife makes and sells some really nice smoked salts, pepper and spice mixes/rubs. Smoked sea salt is indeed pretty awesome

Your Christmas tree is still up?

Yeah. Doesn't come down til after Valentine's Day around here. Easter, if I can manage to be lazy enough. And no, no chocolate covered candy canes. I've been working on them all season. Wife finally got enough of them on there.

Hope all you snow bunnies are doing OK, I see all these people with no power and 2 feet of snow... supposed to be 80 something here this weekend.. close to 80 outside right now.

The move-your-butt challenges are just fantastic thread ideas--love the motivation from them.

Hope everyones doing well and staying warm! is it almost spring? :grumpy:

I like that popcorn and cheetos idea. I'm going to have to try that.

Almost done with my AR build.

Nice. I got a DPMS flat top that's just begging to be made into a long distance coyote slayer. And I still have a stripped lower from two years ago. They were only $80, I figured might as well order two and save on shipping and not have to go through this hassle again. I'm thinking about a simple dissipator build but I'm not decided yet. I'll probably go through all my other guns first so it might take another two years to build it.

Yeah, I'm gonna snap up a few more lowers when they drop to 50 per again, since I have a bunch of parts left over from this build. Shouldn't cost too much to make another couple. Maybe I can sell 'em once I'm out of the state. I think I'm probably good to go for AR-15's though, so next build will be an AR in .308, or a shotgun.

This one turned out nicely, especially because that's a full Seekins Precision custom built upper, which I traded a couple bush swords for. 18" barrel in 5R twist, chambered for .223 Wylde. One of those fancy little dust covers that says "Smile and Wait for Flash" was included on it. I need an ambi charging handle too. Magpul ACS stock, which I'm loving, and Mako Ergo grip. I'm still waiting on the ambi safety. I think I'll throw on a Magpul AFG as well, and some Troy BUIS. I've been contemplating one of those JP Enterprises captured buffer assemblies, but since it cannot take a suppressor, all I really get out of that is the removal of the sproing noise and slightly lower felt recoil, which is negligible on an AR-15 anyways. Not sure I wanna drop a hundred clams or so on that. Idea here was to get a very accurate rifle. I'm excited to see how it will stack up against my DDM4. Total cost for the build was around 500, I think, if I count only the materials cost for the swords I traded for the bulk of the parts. I expect it's worth considerably more than that, since the Seekins Precision upper is worth well over a grand usually.

Chris Angel frequently uses actors as spectators and participants in his act. Sometimes using the same "COMPLETELY random woman from the audience" more than once. LOL MAGIC!!!! That guy was one of those actors. This is also considering that if you just had a guillotine slam into your neck/spine I doubt you would spit blood and whine that you cant feel your legs... Probably would be just a little bit different if you know what I mean... lol This comes from my many years of experience as a guillotine operator/technician in Shanghai during the 60s... :D

MIND FREEEAAAKKK!

Caught 3 walleye tonight and kept 2 if them. They sure were tasty!

Yes I do. I just got a Vexilar FL18 last week and tonight was my first time using it. It is pretty fun to see a fish come in and then follow your bait as you jig it up a bit.

Did someone say $50 lowers? I know PSA has ran specials like that... Who else?

Primary Arms had a few at that price too, but yeah, PSA was where I got the one for that build. Think Primary Arms has a Spikes Tactical lower and LPK for pretty darn cheap right now too. Don't have the scratch, but it's still tempting.

ac700, walleye was on the menu at the local fish restaurant last night for $29 per 9 oz. That's some luxury stuff out here.
