Thanks guys, I appreciate that. I'll be fine really. Its just a sad state of affairs. He and I where friends since we were 2. we were raised together, went to grade school, high school and college together. Close friends all through life, but alcoholism just ruined the guy. Dont get me wrong, I love to drink but he always took it to the extreme. The last straw for me was about 4 years ago we had a huge falling out. He stole some pain medication off of my wife and took my credit card. I dont tolerate theives and the fact that he stole from me hurt my feelings pretty bad but it was all just to feed his addiction. I told him then that he would not be welcome in my home anymore and even after attempts by him to reconcile I just never could forgive him. I new this day would come. still just very sad.

ac700, walleye was on the menu at the local fish restaurant last night for $29 per 9 oz. That's some luxury stuff out here.

Thanks! I don't foresee being able to afford an EBR all at once anytime soon, but I could probably manage slowly building one.
 
Has anyone else been enjoying some girlscout cookies this week? We got some the first day they were able to sell any. We got a bunch of peanut butter patties and caramel delights.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck watching kids cartoons all day long with my little ones...... any suggestions (other then spending all day on here) on how to pass the time without going insane? I cant really leave the room or they start to freak out (cause they are sick :()

I totally screwed up a knife late last night/early this morning and i blame it on the snark thread being locked. If the snark wasnt locked i wouldnt of got up and started messing with the knife in the first place.

Maybe it was the fact i was a wee bit intoxicated, or the fact i was bored and couldnt snark.... But i was whittling a stick and then though hell, i wonder how well of a throwing knife this would be.... So i threw it... and it DOESNT make a good thrower at all.... Or i dont make a good thrower at all, either or... But the knife bounced off the target, and the tip hit the concrete floor in the basement... S35VN ended up with just a tiny chip in it... I was relieved honestly when i seen how small the edge damage was, i threw it pretty hard so i expected worse damage when it hit the concrete....

So no worries, just a little chip, i decided id grab the worksharp and fix her right on up... HUGE mistake.. Now the edge on one of my favorite neckers is ALL screwed up. I gave up on fixing it for fear of completely destroying the knife but im going to have to send it to be fixed now. :(

Also another great idea, except I normally sharpen my knives in the evening after the kids are in bed while I smoke my pipe. Kind of a zen relaxation thing for me. Also the last time I sat down and started sharpening knives with the little ones around... my 2 year old daughter decided to walk away with my ZT 0700 when I was showing my son how to use a stone properly. It was open and she pulled her thumb across the blade and skinned the knuckle. Thank god nothing else happened! You could imagine the ear full I got for that one...

The force is strong with this one.

I did about the same thing with my Dad's Buck 110 when I was a wee tike. I stole it, opened it half way, almost snapped it closed on my fingers, managed to open it the rest of the way and stabbed the floor with it before he was on to me.

Very sorry to hear that Todd. That is truly sad, My father was a Chaplin for a hospice and had to deal with issues similar to this many times. A lot of my childhood was spent with him around terminal people, very sad. All the best from my family to yours.
