A "Thank You Porch" GAW: Boats !! WINNER

I'm a sucker for a soddie, so I'm in.

Since I have never owned, nor wanted to own a boat, this was a little challenging for me, but then I realized that the only reason I don't want a boat is because I don't want to have to pay for it or maintain it. So what I really want is a ship that I can command and have other people pay for it. So I will use a picture of Queen Elizabeth's yacht, the Britannia.

It is the perfect yacht. It has a highly trained loyal crew, and taxpayers foot the bill.

Might as well put in a shot of our “narrow boat”, as Jack put it. Sunset at the ramp:

(Our boating is very low-key.)

What a beautiful photo! Nice boat too :) I should have written Narrow Boat as Narrowboat :D Here it is a the most common type of canal barge, designed to navigate our historic system of narrow inland waterways :)

Great knife for a GAW Pinemoon Pinemoon ,
I am in :)

I built this row boat for two rowers in 2008 for my Dad. He and my Mon navigated the Rideau Canal for a few years with it.

Last year I repainted it and repaired it ( it was getting very hard to keep the varnish in the interior in good shape )
Unlike Dad I am not much of a rower so I put a very small 2hp outboard :)

Here is my wife and I last July

Is there no end to your talents Dan?!

Count me in, and give my slot to Vince, since he gave his away.
Ok, you got it. Vince, aka Prester J. is entered for you
That's a nice gesture, and nice kayak :)

I'm not a big boat guy, but I've lusted after a wooden speedboat ever since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

That's a neat scene. I love old wooden boats, too. My grandfather had a gorgeous Chris Craft when I was a wee lad. It had a Chevy small block V8, a 327 or a 283, I don't remember exactly. I do remember covering my ears when he'd start it. I was about 4-5 years old. Those old mahogany boats are works of art.
Are you officially entering this?

Sure, but please give my slot to JohnDF JohnDF
Ok, another entry for JohnDF

That's a neat craft. It would make a nice holiday getaway :)

View attachment 1289267 Thanks for the giveaway. Here is my old fishing kayak. I just checked the date of the photo and this was in 2010... how time flies.
Nice personal watercraft  It looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.
Gotcha entered.

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks especially for the link to the fascinating article on narrowboats. That’s what I love about this place - I learn about so much more than knives. Your narrowboat looks like a wonderful way to while away the hours, but somehow I don’t think I could put it on top of my car to haul it to the lake like I do ours. ;)

View media item 8125Im in, I love a Sodbuster. Thanks for the generous GAW.
My boat was a kayak, but the boat in this picture is a canoe that lived next to the farm pond where I used to live. I had some great times on this canoe, including this picture. My wife and I took out our nephew for a day of fishing and we got into a school of crappie that ate spinner baits like they were piranhas! Nonstop action, it was great. We caught some beautiful bluegills and a little bass too. It was one of those rare, perfect days.

Very cool. Never had a sodbuster.

I wanted a boat for many years. But then sort of scratched that itch with a PWC. Unfortunately it hasn't been on the water for maybe 6 years. Maybe this year I'll get off my butt.

You know what they say about boat and plane ownership. The two happiest days of your life, are the day you bought it, and the day you sold it. :D

True dat :)
My wife got a boat a couple years ago to see if she would like it. She won't drive my homemade thing, too many blind spots!
Turned out she didn't like having a boat of her own. It was a good day when we sold it :)
Gotcha entered.
