A Thought On Posts In The Traditional Forum...

Welcome Robert, I spend a lot of time here 'cause of the people here, hope to see ya around more, I'll keep an eye peeled for ya.

i for one am not much for typing.(hunt, peck)
but i love to read the post and see all the great knives that you
guys have.
i am out of work and can't really afford a custom knife as i use
to could.
i guess i should have bought one when i had a good thing going.
anyway, this is my favorite forum cause i love the old traditional
blades better than any.
i have several slip joints and my favorite is single blade trapper.
my camera isn't that great or i would post more pictures.
just wanted to let you guys know that i feel more at home here
than any forum i have joined.
not one to cuss,i don't care to read others foul mouthed post either.
i guess i am just old school.
by the way,my name is jeffrey.
my friends call me jeff,or jd.
i don't really like jeffrey.
thanks for the forum,
jd(jeff)

Know how it is being out of work JD, hopefully things pick up for everyone thats in the same boat atm! I've been outta work a while now and got a 2 week trial at a place next week but no guarantees. Feel free to post when you have something to add, I love that in here everyone is composed in a civil manner.

First off, hello and wish you the best.

I just came back to the forum after 2 or 3 years away. A lot of the good, "old" folk still around and some fine new ones too. I think it's just the nature of those who love those old fashioned, "folksy" knives. ;) Someone made the folksy comment a few years back (in another sub-forum I think, but don't quote me) and we latched onto it cause it does describe us a bit.

Of course, over your way you got some down home tradition. Northwastern NC is some beautiful country. Spent 5 years, okay the family spent 5 years at Fort Bragg, I was in the Sinai for one year of it. Nice around there too, but I love the mountain areas of anywhere much better. (My momma was born in a cabin in Morgan County, KY so it must be the hillbilly blood in me, even if I was raised on a farm in Southern Ohio. :D )

I like looking at the customs just fine and wouldn't mind one or two, but probably won't ever happen. But I find the look of a good, carried Case, Old Timer (the real ones) or the like to really be something special. There's something about a knife that is carried foremost as a tool and steady companion that just shines. Kind of like a man's dog, his favorite pipe, or a trail worn sidearm that may show the miles, but is an intimate part of the person carrying it..

Settle in and enjoy.

Hey all, I'm John. I live in western NY state. I've spent most of my time on BladeForums over on the Wilderness & Survival Skills subforum. Only recently have I posted here in Traditional. I'm a fan of slipjoints, carry them all the time, and collect Case knives. I've made the trip to Bradford, and last year my girlfriend gave me a lifetime membership to the Case Collector's Club!

My favorite knives are old users with genuine character. Also I enjoy whittling with traditional knives, scandi blades, and my custom ML Knives whittler. Thanks for having me! -John

In the spirit of the Traditional forum, I'll go ahead and add my first name to my sig. line. No one in the real world knows me as hoopster. Somehow I ended up with the nickname "Easy". Even my brother calls me Easy, much to my dismay.
Good to be here amongst such fine knife loving folks.
Eric

Um, well, I'm Steve, and new here.

But you could have probably figured it out from my handle.

Cool place though.

My traditional folder "collecting" (such as it is: with one small drawer of user level pocket-friendly pieces) has been asleep for a few years.

Now that I'm retired I'm sure I'll probably outgrow that drawer, especially as when I travel I like to commemorate with pocket size souvenirs.

Well, I postet some of my opinions already here in the Traditional-Forum.

I´m from the southeastern bavaria, germany. About 300 metres away from the border to Austria and I´m 27 years old.
I´m enjoying collecting knives since about three years now. I love the bonehandled knives, because they seem to be very handy knives and I love working with them.

Greetings...
Andi

P. S: Please excuse my bad english. But I haven´t had many times to use my school-english, which was not very much. I hope you understand what I want to tell you ;)
In some kind, I also take the discussions here to lift my english language to a higher level...

I don't know why but I just noticed this thread. The funny thing is that after discovering the traditional forum I made the decision to put my name in my sig line for the very reasons Elliott mentioned in the OP.

I'm not very anonymous to begin with however, since my last name is my user name. Since it's not a common name I use it on all the forums I frequent.

BTW, Andi, you are doing very well. Learning another language is never easy and the best way to learn is by doing what you are doing. And don't be afraid to make mistakes, just go for it and you will get the swing of it sooner than you think. :)

I've decided to sign my sig as Ed J as there are at least two other Eds that post here and when we are all posting to the same thread it can be confusing. So, Ed J to make me a bit different from the others. I wouldn't want them to take the blame for some stupid remark I made in a post.

Ed J, if you just say it without the space, it's "Edge". Kind of appropriate for a knife guy!

I love this subforum, much different than the general and many other forums, different "air" here, no trolls no crazy guys, just good people and good knives...a good beer on top and I'm fine!
