Thanks for chiming in, gents. We're further enriched by your presence and participation.

hey guys newbie here.
chiming in cause yesterday i decided instead of carrying a "tactical", to just slip something simple in my pocket.
i have a large case sellect copperlock in smoke black rogers jigged bone with factory filework. was cutting "dunking strips" from my oversized boutique cookie to dunk into my coffee at the local coffee shop. i realized there's more use for a people friendly traditional if i just remember to keep one handy.
I would never pull out a sebenza at a coffe shop out here in socal, the sheeple would freak. ;-)

My quick story to introduce myself:
got back into collecting a couple of years ago and realized this time around to get into traditionals too, not just "tacticals", like when i was younger.
I had a copperlock "pocketworn" back around 97, so i decided to get another one. this "sellect" series one is more collectible but i bought it pretty cheap heavily used, may send it to case for a sharpening/polish. at least i can enjoy it!
The first small one that caught my eye was the early gerber classics in ivory/yellow and burgundy micarta. small and cool. then i upgraded to the famous "gentlemens" bolstered and ivory al mars (eagle and hawk). but wanted to get even more traditional possibly with no lockback (i noticed they call them "slippies" now) so i started looking online with whats available with CASE and customs.
I'm extatic that guys like Gene Wiseman and Menefee are offerning old style looking slipjoints with newer stronger materials, better blade steels and stronger stainless steel liners with durable but colorfull scales like MICARTA and g-10. i hope to upgrade to one of these handmades eventually. i also plan to get a Case with CV steel blade in synthetic yellow, the copperlocks are a bit too rare and expensive for me in this model, but i may get a 2 blade trapper, one blade for multi-use and one for food (cuttin cookies!)

anyways that's this newbie's story. hope to figure out posting pics soon, and plan to check in and contribute to the traditionals section often.

sorry guys, my huge intro got moved from the "carry" thread. its above if ya want to know of my knife pathology.
one of my split personalities likes traditional knives, that's why i'm here ;-)
and you can all call me John
Nostimos means delicious in Greek (a nickname from a girl)
although the only thing worth salivating over in my older age is my new growing knife collection.

It's good to have you here John. This is by far my favorite place on the internet. There are many knowledgeable and friendly people in this sub-forum that make it so wonderful. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do.

Been away from BF for a while, but the last few years have seen me getting back "into" traditional folders. I've been lurking this sub-forum for a while now and decided it was time I started chiming in.

Good to have you back in the fold, Paul.

Thanks Elliott. I've really been enjoying reading, and drooling over the posts here.

Jon-a popular name-not common.
Meakin aka meako.
if you want an Aussie nickname just put O or Y on the end
or make it insulting & derisive.
