Photos A Walk in Nature

We had a nice walk this afternoon with my wife and our daughter.

First we went to the bird sanctuary to introduce my Albers to our chickadee buddies :)

The day was so nice that we then drove to another area to keep walking and enjoying being outside a little more.

The mighty Saint Lawrence and right across it the USA shore.

We walked up to the monument for the battle of Chrysler farm, war of 1812.

This is the area that 3 weeks ago I photographed from the water aboard Serena on my last trip. The trees are no longer green now.
The weather was so nice today that I had the fleeting thought that I could have squeezed one more trip this year on this weekend :)

Later ... a "walk on the railroad tracks"

A fork in the tracks ... which way should I go ? 🤔

Moments later I find myself in the line of fire 😨
I knew I had taken the wrong track at the fork
( why do these things always happen to me 🤓)

Canadian Daleks? 🤔 Who knew?

I would have like to have been with you 3 Dears on this walkabout today Dan. Thanks for taking us along.

Indeed, it would have been great had we had the time to take you meet the chickadees and walk a couple trails 😊

Took a walk with my daughter along a popular stretch of the canal yesterday morning, just downstream from Great Falls. I have shown pictures of the area before, but these couple of shots show the fall colors really starting to pop:

Lovely pics Tom :)

Here goes!
The weather was perfect, I stopped and talked to so many interesting people along the way, everything was pretty much just perfect.

Confluence of the Shenandoah (left) and Potomac rivers, and the town of Harper’s Ferry:

No fall colors yet, but still a pretty view.

Looking down the Potomac:

Toting the usual, and used it exclusively, for food prep and camp setup:

Great pics Tom, the landscapes are wonderful.

This is very interesting signage. I understand the name and grid reference, but what is the “what3words” system and how does it work? Is it not redundant with the place name and grid reference? Or is it not related to the calling for emergency services?

It is an app based system which is very easy to use and very handy for pinpointing locations. We use it quite often in the emergency services.

Greener but duller, Dave. Lots of rain at this time of year as I'm sure you'll remember.
No I can barely remember rain! Ok well I can certainly remember it in Scotland. Suppose to be another dry one here this year. We’ll have to sell off some cattle if it is.
Thought we might get a bit on Saturday but just 45-50 mph winds all day. Made our works pretty tough. Kinda hard to throw a rope in that kind of wind, but we did cause well..... its the cowboy thing to do.

This ones a good size heifer. Ya don't even have to look close at the calf, cause Nichole still has her castrating knife in her boot sheath.
