Photos A Walk in Nature

A cycle down the river one way and then back up the canal the other, this is all within the Citys boundry.

I went much further than intended,in fact I went from one side to the other and back again, hard to stop when the sun is out its good to be alive.

My bike was running out of battery and my body was running out of battery as well,as my sargeant used to say its only pain (he had a lot to say my sargeant 🤣).

It was a funny day lots of people I dont know gave me a cheery hello, some young lad went hurtling past me on a mountain bike greeting me in Spanish before I had time to reply.

Maybe because even though im on a moutain bike as well I am slow and avoid all the rough bits. 😁

Quite a few people commented on my day glo beanie hat I wear on the bike for safety.

Met an exotic bird (sadly not Liz Hurley) found a wonderful mural under one of the canal bridges, had a good coffee in a famous old pub, came across lots of cute dogs on the tow path.

The old 11 Century Abbey ruins where featured in an episode of Inspector Morse.

36 minutes in you can see the pub I stopped at for the coffee.

Very nice photos. Looks like. Good day for a ride

If I sew ten buttons on ten shirts for ten years, I will be good at sewing buttons.
Other than being an expert at spending too much money on knives, this is the only other thing I'm halfway decent at.
I hope you guys tolerate me because everything I post is in the wild. Just giving you guys something to see thru my eyes.

Tolerate thats not the right word at all.

These are great photos, its an outdoors/nature thread, I am sure we would all like to see more,I know I do. 😍

Same little patch I walk in regular as its close by,deserted and easy to get to.

I like to try different things and see how they work

This time I used my military BCB mug for a drink, its heavy and robust perfect for the military.

MSR original stove I bought S/H I value simple and reliable over saving 2 grammes in weight.😇

Thw windshield I made from a cereal packet and thick foil sellotaped down.

Its the biggest fire steel ive made as well it lit the stove first strike.

These hot chocolate satchets make a superb drink I put to much water in so beefed it up with a bit of coffee, tasted very good.

For woody type things the EKA Swede 8 with scandi grind is hard to beat, team it with a Vic walker and you have a very good combination.

I had forgotten how to secure my pack to a tree so had to learn again.

I am not the sort to rely on finding a toggle on the ground so had made my own, even oiled it,

I had forgotten my glasses (a major mistake) and so managed to snap it when trying to add a grove for the cord, found another piece of wood and started to make another toggle.

No glasses so photgraphed things then cropped the photo to see detail.

The jacket is the UK new military issue its more a mid layer as it doesent shred even the lightest rain.

The cap is actually a womans Cashmere bonnet it was in the sale last year.

Turn the brim up and its a watch cap, pull it down over the ears and no ones the wiser its a womans.

Cashere is expensive, soft and very warm I have gone back to a lot of wool items.

Merino gloves and mid layer are just so good.

I was looking for signs of deer you can always work out where they cross a fence and a field if you stop and look.

That valley field had a lot of high gorse or something and was hard going.

So I tried to follow the animal trails through, again if you look hard you can see them, only thing is the deer can leap over things I cant 😁

It was a pleasent walk but I would have preffered colder as its more of a test.

I also have another sit mat this ones unlined and folds up very compact I will keep this one for my bike journeys.

Stopped at the church with Royal history its in the middle of nowhere,It has lots of seating outside and a great view.

Photos are out of order.

Great photos 🙂 I've not seen as much of nature as I would have liked this year ☹️👍

Hooray sunshine today so of to Aston Rowant nature reserve,

They had removed some seats in the woods that had the rotted last time I was there.

I had then called them up and asked if they could put a log or something for mysrelf and others to use as a seat.

They didnt dissapoint I was very pleased to see what they had done today.

When I phoned them to thank them they where pleased I was pleased 🤣 .

They told me they had positioned them so the most comfortable side was usable and put some thought into the job.

I also wanted to try my new twisted assistant UK slippy to see how it was on woodsy things.

I just wanted to thank you guys. I don't mean to hijack the thread with the things that I see.
It's the only thing I'm good at. It took a lot of practice and many years. I don't make a penny from it.
I don't know why I do it. I figure one of these days, someone will discover me. That's how I have to look at it.
If not, it's all for nothing. From this day to me last days.

Don’t look at it that way. The process, the learning experience, being outdoors, the satisfaction from doing something exceptionally well - all these things are rewards in themselves. Sure it would be nice to be recognized, and paid, but if that doesn’t happen it doesn’t mean you wasted your time, and it is not a reflection of your worth as a person.

Maybe volunteering to teach photography somewhere would help you see the value of it.

AN (after Navy) one of my friends worked for Peterbuilt trucks in there adv. dept. as a photog. He also moonlighted with his own stuff online and craft shows. You may get discovered when you least expect it.
My cousin was very talented too. His advise was, don’t do weddings! too much emotion, claws come out.
Your pics are beautiful.

If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. If you do enjoy it, then it's not "all for nothing".
You have skill. Beautiful shots
