Photos A Walk in Nature

For those of you who may be thinking that CelloDan CelloDan is taking way too many trips in nature and likely neglecting to take care of vital priorities in his life let me emphatically state in his defence;

Nothing could be further from falsehood… or closer to the truth 🤔🤨🧐😛

Preparations are underway for a trip to the Kawartha Lakes with Diana.
She is VERY excited about it!
We have been looking to this trip together for a long time.

Countdown is on … leaving my cubicle in 52 min 👍😎

La Mauricie National Park, Shawinigan, Quebec. Its an area representative of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Precambrian region. Located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence.
I need to go back because the park is huge. The park covers an area of 536 km2 (207 sq mi) 93% of which is mixed forest composed of conifers and deciduous trees. Most of the area is reserved for plant and wildlife conservation programs. The park contains 150 lakes and many ponds.

Gorgeous park and knife. 😄👍

I rode my bike to a local reservoir this morning, then walked around it. The temperature was not too bad but the air was so thick with humidity I felt like I was practically swimming.

Lots of wild red raspberries everywhere, and plenty of interesting critters about.

I was glad to get back on my bike to finally get a little evaporative cooling going.

I like that I don’t have to brave any big roads to get there and back

The owl is awesome. I can slow walk through the woods, always looking and not see one

My son and I hiked a local front range trail after the sun got a little lower in the sky.IMG_20230702_125057_(889_x_667_pixel).jpgIMG_20230702_125033_(500_x_667_pixel).jpg
Tl29 and a kizer domin were my daily carry.

We came across a young couple (20 ish) that looked like they were on a date, someone who had set up a hammock nest to the stream for an afternoon snooze, and a family that had brought grandma up for a walk in the hills. Grandma looked like she was happy to be there, but was definitely taking her time.

This hike is a neat one, but it keeps getting tighter and ruggeder as you go in. The runoff had taken out the trail for a bit, so the path was rerouted up and around in a place, and the standard fords had new locations. We turned around about 3/4ths of a mile in when the rock scrambling got serious. That and my feet seemed a little sluggish. That's not a good combo.

+1
I've only seen a couple of owls. Getting a pic of one on a hike is kind of incredible 😲:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Owl hit my windscreen at 90 kms/hr the other day, I was really upset as these are magnificent birds and was likely nesting :( but it was so sudden and completely unavoidable . Feel I have to do something for nature as recompense , but can't think of anything suitable yet.

I heard this one before I saw him. He was making all kinds of racket and seemed very annoyed - I imagine he had been flushed out of his roost by crows or something. It seems whenever I see owls in the daytime, they are being harassed by crows, but I didn’t see anything pursuing this one today. Here is a more zoomed-out view:

Back home safe and sound after 9 days aboard Serena with Diana exploring and navigating several of the Kawartha Lakes in Ontario :)
Do we really have to go to work tomorrow ? lol

We are tired but very happy and with many new memories of time spent together out in nature.

Will it all fit ? 🤔

Using our new anchor for the first time. An expensive, Rocna Vulcan however I wanted peace of mind at anchorage as our old anchor had dragged before.

Work? I was under the impression you must have retired Dan! 😁 Says the pot to the kettle! 🤣 Wonderful photos of your trip, I love the one of you and Diana ❤️😎👍

Kawartha Lakes in Ontario, had to look that one up.

The Kawartha lakes. Lakes are identified in the text of this article, while 1 marks the community of Lindsay and 2 marks the city of Peterborough

That is lots of water to explore Dan. You probably should both just retire and keep on sailing. :) You are living right my Brother.
