Photos A Walk in Nature

Rain or shine it's a beautiful time on your boat  But that fried fish!!! Could live on it🐋🐈😻
Thanks Will :)
We love fish by the docks or shore, it tastes even better 😋
We should get together and get RayseM RayseM to join us in a fish fest 😎, I've heard he really likes it too :D

Work? I was under the impression you must have retired Dan! 😁 Says the pot to the kettle! 🤣 Wonderful photos of your trip, I love the one of you and Diana ❤️😎👍
😁
Thanks for the chuckle mi amigo this morning while I was firing up my work computer 😎
Thanks for the comment about our photo together with Diana.
She really enjoyed the trip as well :)

Beautiful photos and area. Looks like a great trip.
Gracias :)
Kawartha Lakes in Ontario, had to look that one up.

The Kawartha lakes. Lakes are identified in the text of this article, while 1 marks the community of Lindsay and 2 marks the city of Peterborough

That is lots of water to explore Dan. You probably should both just retire and keep on sailing. :) You are living right my Brother.

Thanks Ray :)
We dream of doing the "Great Loop" someday when we retire.
We met several American boaters doing it on this trip. Folks from Texas, Florida, North Carolina.
We would need to switch to something like a small trawler for that.
Diana is already excited about it lol :)

On this trip we explore the lakes marked as H, J, K, M , L quite well.

This pic was taken on lake marked H while at anchor close to the island shown in the middle.

I must admit Dan that I would rather eat fresh water fish than do the GREAT LOOPS. That is tooooooo ambitious for me - mostly it involves too much urban America. I've sailed across the Atlantic on a 100 foot schooner but the GL is not my style. Rather stick to less settled waters - the Aleutian Islands for example. I'm up for that, if you guys are willing. :)

We like the secluded "less settled" waters too.

We experienced that in our recent trip. One lake had not much development as it was mostly crown land on one part and a native reserve on the other. Plenty of solitude and anchoring spots out of the way of "people" lol.

On another lake, every island and rock had been claimed and someone had put a cottage on it. It was beautiful and had even better sailing conditions yet we longed for our solitude when it was time to find an anchoring spot for the night.

Folks doing the Great Loop were super enthusiastic about it. I had not thought of the likely very urbanized long stretches.
btw, the map I posted is not showing the Trent Severn Canal through the Kawarthas which can be a part of the Great Loop as it connects Lake Ontario with Georgian Bay.

Still there is something about navigating this gigantic loop through such big expanse of North America that we find appealing. Folks doing it told us they were taking more than a year to do it.

When you make it to the Chesapeake, be sure to look me up :D:thumbsup:. I would be happy to meet you at Annapolis, or St. Michaels, or you could take a side trip up the lower Potomac to DC.

Noted mi amigo:thumbsup: :)

Last year while navigating the Rideau Canal with Ray we came upon this tiny trawler at the Newboro Locks.
It looked so very perfect !!! 😍 I had to take a picture.
I looked it up online later on and the price is NOT cheap :(

Diana and I are minimalists and it looked just big enough to perhaps dream of long trips on something like it.

Always enjoy your adventures!
The Great Loop is my pipe dream. If I added up the time I’ve spent picking the ”right boat”, marinas, watching YouTube documentary’s, reading accounts, etc…we’d be half way through the trip!
I can’t help but reflect on the early explorers who did it in canoes and flat pole barges. All without a convection oven.
This was our 4th. Socializing, from a safe distance.

That would be the trip of a lifetime.

Why not hire a Paddle steamer and we can all come along with you? 😍

Its a dangerous heatwave in Southern Europe with things closing down and serious health warnings.

In England it has not stopped raining/flooding and its so cold I may turn my heating on,we have always been different in many ways to the rest of Europe. 🤣

So instead of going out heres some pictures I took on Otmoor wildlife reserve 12 years ago when I got a new lens.

My pen knife was in my pocket so no photo, sorry.

Literally no place in the world I’d rather be, than up in the woods around my grandparents house in Northern VT. So many familiar streams and area up there, it’s the most nostalgic place for me. Me and my cousin used to love exploring around, fishing, catching bugs, building forts, etc. when we were kids. And now I get to bring my kids up to those same places and build some of those same memories for them. 😁

It’s not the most beautiful place in the world, and my pictures won’t do it any justice, but it holds a special place in my heart. And while I’ve lived in NY my whole life, up there just feels more like home. I’m sure my Nana’s cooking has a lot to do with it too. 😁

CelloDan CelloDan despite gnarly clouds and some rough waters looks like a great outing.
Thanks !
We had to delay the start of the trip due to the weather conditions.
It’s turning out be a memorable one

That’s a great idea 😁
I keep bumping into this big boat.
I think if we all sell just one of our GEC’s on ebay we could buy it and rename it
“The Porch” 😎
It would be perfect for us ! 🤣
