We have actually had an unusually cool summer so far. Mostly highs in the upper 80s with the occasional lower 90s (although no break from the humidity), instead of the typical upper 90s with the occasional 100.

I just got in from cutting the grass when I saw your reply though, and yeah it’s still hot. What you generously attribute to bravery I would more realistically call stupidity .

For those not familiar with the DC seasons, it's Fall, Winter, Spring, and Air Conditioning.

It also helps us remember how to set our clocks for DST. Spring forward and Autumn back doesn’t make any sense…

I had never thought of that.

We just go on facebook every year and have the same conversation without fail is it forward or back?

Not a walk in nature, but a ride through suburban neighborhoods and parks:

Looks like a very nice setting for going out on bike rides Tom ... and is so close to your home

I left you guys on my last post on the idyllic Camelot island lol

On Gordon Island, things took a turned for the worse in a dramatic fashion

We caught this masked bandit attempting to get inside Serena

Toby’s barking and us running towards Serena sent it scampering off underneath the docks

The shameless rascal kept on coming ! The ranger arrived and told us that they had stolen his lunch the day before

So we decided to get off that island.
As we boarded Serena Toby went CRAZY!
We noticed garbage scattered around inside Serena.
We began to clean up and move things around however Toby was just besides himself.
Suddenly Diana screamed “ THERE IS ONE INSIDE

The brazen thug hissed at me, grabbed the bag of Toby’s food and treats and retreated deep inside the bilge

I opened the lazarette and made a lot of noise with the aluminum pole with a hook we use to cross the locks.
The masked bandit poked its head through the companionway and finally decided to get off Serena

As I was capturing the action for posterity I accidentally put the phone in selfie mode

As real as it gets folks

Keep on barking Toby

Face off

The bandit was not going to give up that easily on Toby’s treats

JUST GET OUT

I screamed in my best Dr Dolittle voice

Having reclaimed our beloved Serena it was time to clean and disinfect everything

We moved to another dock on the island and had a nice meal of lamb chops, mashed potatoes, guacamole, humus, tomatoes.

We were starving after battling the thieves

Soon after there was a major thunderstorm. After it passed we left Gordon island and got underway towards Gananoque to resupply on water and ice

After the storm and tribulations a glorious rainbow

Breakfast the next day at Aubrey Island

And a a beautiful day followed in nature as well as some very nice sailing

I sort of like them too Years ago I even looked into having one as a pet when we lived in the States.
Diana said to me just a few minutes ago " I used to like them but not anymore" lol

Nothing like a little excitement before dinner!

Thanks Dan. Of course I'll put a word in for you with Meako but as you know, Meako is his own man, not easily influenced and will certainly come to his own conclusion. Though I do believe he'll see the value of being in a project with you.

BTW Toby is the cutest of the brave little dogs and his new moniker (brave heart) suits him perfectly.

Regarding raccoons, they are entitled to respect as are all of God's creatures but the better one knows them, the more they know, raccoons are not to be trusted.

Snapshots from the past weekend

Toby has new superpowers now

Waking up at anchor in a small cove at 5:45 am
A view from each side

Toby needed to go potty so at about 6 am I motored to nearby docks just as the sun was peeking through the horizon

Later at the docks I caught someone waking up and likely checking on her social media

Breakfast in bed lol

And we run, yet again, into the Kawartha Voyageur
Intrigued I searched it up.
It is a very interesting story. The two captains of the boat are brothers and take turns at the helm while their wives manage the booking and reservations. The captains parents started the company after they retired from a life of farming. Meals from Grandma's original recipe book are still served to the guest just as they were decades ago.
