Photos A Walk in Nature

You've set up a camera IN YOUR FEEDER Dan?  Very nice! Can I share it in a chickadee thread on another forum?
Such a perfect photo.

I laugh with you about INSTAGRAM (and FB) who needs it? 😉 Yes, her photos are all safe with this crowd.

I went out for a little off trail hike today. My mission was to find some chaga. I have ground my big stash from last year so now to build up another horde. I know of 2 really EXCELLENT sources but one is more than 20' up the tree and the other beauty is in a front yard of a stranger. Have to get my courage up to knock on their door. The one way up is the biggest I have ever seen in the wild - same size and shape a Joe Namath's head 😃 Man it's a big one.

Today though just a bunch of small ones after a 3 miles of traipsing through the woods. No matter, was a lovey afternoon and I didn't come home empty handed.

My total haul ~ lots of tea and coffee augment here though after I grind it and a great reason to be out in the woods.

Cool pics Ray ! ... and I see that you've got some ice and ❄️ too :)
Nice you got to enjoy such nice walk trough the woods and bring your little bounty of chaga.

I only become aware of chaga very recently when watching some nature you tube videos. I 've never tried it.
After drinking yerba mate most of my life and don't think I can be intimidated easily by new infusions LOL

I asked my daughter and she is cool with her pics being shared
I watched her stand very still in front of that feeder waiting for her shot :) Like father like daughter :)

Your daughter is a talented photographer. Both of those shots are award winners in my book!

In the summer, I like chaga tea cold with maple syrup but through the winter we have just gotten into mixing the ground chaga with our ground coffee. About a 3:1 ratio coffee to chaga. The chaga has little effect on the taste of good coffee but I'm convinced that we are adding some substantial health benefits to an otherwise basic caffeine buzz.

Making a good individual cup of chaga tea has proven to be illusive. I really like it rugged and full bodied. That requires 8 hours cooking with a sous vide. Which means cooking up a 1/2 gallon or so. Doesn't keep for more than 2 weeks, even refrigerated so I make a pitcher of iced tea and enjoy it as a summer treat. Good hot too, when its made in quantity. My 2¢ in any case.

A nice walk along Troon beach today. The weather is very mild for this time of year. Ellie had a blast🐶
