Photos A Walk in Nature

I have decided I must go and see the Eagles in Scotland,no silly I dont mean singing Hotel California 🤣

Golden and white tailed flying birds of prey is what I am after.

I started planning today,my problem is I cant carry much and with camera gear even less.

My preferred Nikon DSLR camera is very heavy so I bought a D750 years ago but I dont seem to get anywhere near as good results.

So I tried it out again today hard to judge as not much to see except a very distant red kite, but it doesent feel right.

The other option to lighten my carry is a £1500 300mm lens the new one is smaller and half the weight of the previous model I have, you could say more money for less..

Its also the wrong time of year no boat trips for months.

Still if I go I am guaranteed to spot a lesser spotted haggis, square sausage, and deep fried mars bar at least.

Though I am unlikely (with restrictions) to end up with 5 lasses drinking vodka and irn bru in a Rough Glasgow bar like I did on my last visit, though you never know 😁

These are with my iPhone.

I forgot to put my boots back in the car,I had my mooching around the yard slip on shoes on,not ideal especially as the area was flooded 😁

That is a very nice shot of the Red Kite in the sky John and some very nice camera gear . I am a Nikon fan myself but I have to admit that the Super Zooms can save a Lot Of Weight to carry and they take some pretty good pictures as well if you stay with the top brands .
Attached photos were taken in 2013 with a Sony Super Zoom . I wanted to see the Ball at the Top .

So I Zoomed In

Damp drab winter scenes on my walk this morning. It was misting a little when I started out, and unseasonably warm.

Creeks were swollen from from last night’s rain, and the paths were muddy:

At the lake, there seemed to be an epic battle going on between warring gaggles of Canada geese*, with lots of honking and flapping and flying from one spot to another. At one point some ducks and crows joined the fray, and the racket was incredible.
*[Canuckian sky carp? The “Blade Shapes” thread has left me a little uncertain about the correct terminology…]

Same old stuff in my pockets as always:

I woke up to a sunny mild day perfect to photograph the Red Kites,or so I thought.

I had worked out a nice little new route to my favourite seat on a hill, where I am guaranteed to see them.

So of I went in my car 20 mins later the sun went in,when I arrived everyone and their brother was at the car park and on the road, (way to busy for me) even if I had found a parking spot.

Plan B of down the road to another place I like, now it goes overcast and dark.

On the way to a seat I know it rains a little,so stop to eat my sunday lunch sarny and have a coffee.

Wheres my big cup? I forgot to pack it so try to make the coffee in the flask.

Its frothy cappuccino which explodes back over the top,I then drop my spoon in the flask trying to push the coffee in.

I think you realise what kind of day its turning into 🤣

I Stir the coffee with my SAK farmer in the small flask cup as I cant get the spoon out.

The chunky peanut Kitkat was a winner must get more.

Put my rucksack back on walk 10 paces its starts to rain hard and extreme wind.

Have to stop and put my camera away so it isn't damaged, walk 5 paces lots of kites appear just to rub it in.😁

The few people near me disappear but I was never going to not finish my little walk and go back.

I carry on battling against the wind, glad I had bought more layers than I thought I might need,It know felt cold.

The lightweight cashmere jumper is the best bit of kit I have bought in ages and warms my torso.

The steep slope on the last part back to the car park is as always the hardest.

The ground has become muddy in places and very slippery, the brush keeps catching on my walking stick/pole,the wind drives the rain onto the back of my trousers which get very soggy and rub.

It takes me ages to get up and over.

But you know what I loved every minute of it,if its easy its not half as much fun.

I cant help reflect though 40 years ago I would have run around the same distance in a 10th of the time. 😆
