Good morning all.
Since we all utilize this forum to both express our view on our hobbies and to try out cool new toys I thought I'd share a recent experience with a member here. We've all have good experiences mostly but also some bad. In my ~5 years on the forum, I have not encountered this level of batcrap crazy ever. Hence why I am posting this up.
ADDENDUM:
Given the lengths that this user has gone and additional information presented (in this thread and through private channels), I am posting Keith's information below. He can, should he have the temerity, come on this thread and tell his side of things. If he makes things right with other users and publishes an apology, I will consider taking this information down. Otherwise, I suggest this thread be posted in the Hall of Shame section for posterity.

I am going to post a long version (highly detailed) and a short version (with just the relevant bits.) Please keep in mind that anything posted can be substantiated with emails between us.
Just to give a bit of context, I counted the sheer number of emails and he's sent me no less then 102 in the last 4 days (at the time of this posting.)
Short Version:
I agreed to a trade with a newcomer to our great forum. He begged to do a trade and I acquiesced out of trying to welcome him (possibly misguided.) He sent me a broken knife that was not as described. When I called him out, he went to a new level of crazy with threats of having Navy Seals come and collect "his" Chaves. I am sent him his stuff back earlier today.
Long version:
I recently posted a Chaves 228 for trade (link here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ADV-Spyderco-Cuscadi-Sniper-Bladeworks-Chaves
). I was contacted by a new member with zero feedback. He offered me a Seb 25 in trade. He described the Seb as having been carried once or twice but in ideal shape with all docs / accessories. I was interested but didn't feel that I would do this as a straight trade. He offered me a variety of things (mostly fixed blades.) As this isn't what I am generally looking for I turned it down at first.
This began the first tidal wave of emails --he kept offering more and more for the Chaves. Ultimately, I told him that I'd prefer cash to any / all of the other random stuff. He gave me a sob story about being laid off and not having funds. Then he began to tell him about how the Chaves is his grail and damn near begged to do the trade (again, I can provide email proof.) I felt bad for the guy and figured I'd do something nice for a new forum member. I mean, we've all been new to something. We agreed on terms and that he would send first. He sent his end out on Tuesday and I got it yesterday.
I came home last night and opened up the package. To be fair, everything other then the sebenza was as described. The sebenza, however, was another story entirely. Firstly, the grease and cloth were missing. I can normally overlook this and just move on (we are talking about $20-30 in value.) However, the seb itself was a complete disaster. The Ti had been scotchbrited badly. More importantly, the pivot screw slides back and forth. Its worth mentioning that this does not translate into side to side play. The pivot screw / nut freely moves side to side. Its not that the nut got loose as there isn't any thread showing. This is likely as a result of some abuse or tinkering with the seb.
Obviously, I contact the other side of the trade and ask him what the hell is going on. His response (in 4-5 emails) was something approximating "I got it this way" and "send it to CRK, they will fix it." This is obviously not acceptable. I politely told him that I'd be sending this back to reverse out the trade. This started a 12 email long response spanning the gamut of "you're being mean / unfair" to "you're dishonest in not wanting to follow through" to, my favorite, "I am going to call the cops and can I have your phone#." Since random idle threats don't bother me, I sent him the tracking number for the return and told him to never contact me again.
Again, I get about 8-10 emails with " I am calling the cops"; "I am speaking to 'trooper hernandez'/'Steven Seagal'/'Chuck Norris'"; "If you send the Chaves I won't go to the White House with this". I have not responded to this nonsense and have sent him back his stuff.
