A year alone scenario

7'MH Fishing rod with reel with all the basic tacKle.

I can't spend a year without fishing, and this setup beets the crap out of a survival fishing kit.

My harmonica and the book that came with it.

Mabey I could finally learn more than 3 songs

I thought about the same thing but I figured by the time I got back to the real world I'd have convinced myself that I could actually play the Harp, the realization that I still actually suck at playin' would later crush my huge ego. :)

"no human contact"

Does a blow-up doll and 10 square yards of hole-patch tape count? ;)

If the blow-up is a "no go", then a Kindle with solar charger & 1500 downloaded books.

a '59 les paul with a sunburst flame top and a nice fender tube amp (and i guess some sort of solar powered panel to plug that into). i can finally crank it up without the neighbors yelling at me

This is a fantstic idea!

I'd go for a Gold Top with a Bigsby though. A Tweed Bassman would be a great match for it.

I'd love to get real honest to goodness tube clipping without a visit from the cops. Might make hunting a challenge though...

If a solar powered tube amp isn't feasible, I'll take a Leadbelly-style Stella 12-string acoustic guitar and a year's worth of strings.

If my pup was a live then it would be him i wont be thinking twice. But for now a very very large box of books. There better be included the largest encyclopedia ever writen in there as well.. Heck i could stay for another year.

An FWB 700 airgun target rifle and 10,000 rounds of ammo.

And when I come home, I can assure you, I am going to be an Olympic champion and 10 lbs heavier than when ya left me.

i am stumped. I thought for a while and i still cant come up with a single item.

EDIT: i got it now, Q-tips.

My guitar, a cheap Lucida classical given to me by my late friend Joel's mom and dad when he got killed. I love to play, but I suck so maybe that would give me a chance to either: hate to play or not suck :D

Well, I don't have a dog, so I'd bring a nice long book. Maybe the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Since I don't have a dog, I am undecided between:

1. A years supply of rum and coke (or is that included in essentials?:p:D)
2. My guitar
3. 50 years worth of ammo for the rifle, because although I have never done it, I have a strong feeling that shooting would be very fun and a solid year of practice would help my aim, which would probably suck. 50 years of ammo because with nothing else to do, I would shoot all the time.
