Well the new ABS Expo in San Antonio is one week away. http://absknifeexpo.com/index.htm
Thought I would start a thread to post some of the show knives I'm starting to see.

Makers, feel free to post your knives or send photos to me if you like.

Here's an absolute Masterpiece from Larry Fuegen:

Per Larry:
Here are 10 pics of the finished piece. It is called Voodoo. The carved twist Damascus blade is 4.25 inches long, overall length opened is 10.25 inches. The crown stag antler resembles an old rotten log with Damascus snakes crawling thru Voodoo's body. There are also 2 snakes, albino, that are carved into the stag bolster as they crawl from underneath the log.
The face has 4 gold warts, red orange coral eyes, 14 k gold ( yellow and rose gold) tongues, 4 carved fossil walrus ivory teeth. It is complete with a carved ivory finger bone necklace with a birdskull talisman amulet, voodoo charm !

The pet raven he carries with him, is carved on a small tine of deer antler crown. The steel space is carved , textured and fileworked with carved mammoth ivory inlay and a little critter with sterling silver stripes. The display base is manzanita root burl wood on a Honduran rosewood base, with a Damascus steel snake.
The inside features full filework with 3 fossil ivory blade stops and fileworked nickel silver liners.
This will be a lottery style draw item in San Antonio.

I've never offered a forged scroll folder with this theme which involves carved Damascus snakes. The snakes are repeated as a theme on the base. This is a very unique piece in this genre - the world of Gargoyles and imaginary creatures.

Here's a Slide show of this beauty:

Both are great looking knives. I really like the stars and moons engraved(?) on the Hancock.:D:thumbup:

I wish I was able to go. If these knives are the standard of quality it sure will be a great show.

Marcel

WOW I like both of them . But the Voodoo folder is my kink of knife. I just love this type of work. I am sad I will not be at this show as I would love to hold the Voodoo knife. Kevin thanks for posting it.

Larry's piece is just incredible. Such talent and creative genius WOW

The Hancock bowie is very appealing to me and one of my fav's that I have seen of fantastic work

Thanks Kevin

Damn...

Marcel... Fuegen and Hancock are never the standard... NO MATTER WHERE you go! ;) :D

Not sure how Tim intended it exactly, but "estrella" is star in Spanish, and pronounce eh-stray-uh.... it's a rather pretty word if you ask me. It's why I used it before too :)

I'm very excited about this Expo!!! :)

No, you just have proof that I can PRETEND to know how to use one!!!

:p :D

I actually will have some knives with me. If all goes well, they'll even be made by me and everything! Crazy, I know. ;)

I'll try to get some pics before now and then :)

Great looking work Erik! That first one is my favorite... super lines and clean as a whistle.

That rifleman's bowie by Fuegen is just beautiful...

sorry for the last two photos. tried to adjust the color for the best views

Ed -- love the Bowie except for one thing -- THE PINS. maybe it is me but they don't look parallel and also what concerns me is that the eye goes to lightest and brightest object and the sterling pins bring the eye to them and not to the rest of the knife. Also being so close to the escutcheon, they tend to dominate it too. Just a couple of thoughts about an o/w, to me, wonderful Bowie.

Here is a Dagger that I am bringing.

Art Dagger

This dagger has a blade length of 7 1/2” and an overall length of 12”. The blade is a mosaic damascus pattern that has been heat colored gold. The guard is carved damascus and heat colored. The handle consists of a damascus gun blued spacer, three 18 karat gold rings, fluted African Blackwood, and a gun blued damascus butt cap. This knife is also built in a takedown style. This knife also comes with a damascus take down tool, not pictured, and a display box not pictured as well.

I just finished this Bowie for the Expo as well.

Dog Bone Bowie

This is a 9 7/8 inch dog bone bowie. The guard, domed pins, and liners are sterling silver. The damascus blade, frame, spacers, escutcheons, take down tool, and finial are all gun blued black. The spacers are deeply grooved and the escutcheons are sharply raised. The damascus is ladder pattern with nickel. This knife is a frame handle construction with sterling silver spacers. This bowie can easily be taken apart and put back together by following the letters stamped on each piece. This knife comes with a beautiful display box. The knife is held in my a magnet set behind the felt.
