ABS Expo-San Antonio Knives

Ah, it is because of such knife shows that I really feel
the limitations of living 8000 miles away.....

Have a great show, my friends!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Josh, you didn't told me that the dagger would be that beautiful:cool::thumbup: That Dogbone Bowie is real cool too!!

David, although it's only:D about 5000 miles for me I'm with you.

Marcel

Yeah man, those josh bowie and dagger are pure class. Josh this is a great example of you are your best,

Yikes, hide the dagger from my wife! She started out collecting daggers prior to getting into folders. This one would rock her world!

I am really liking that dogbone. Don't have one in my collection yet but this one I would snatch up in a heartbeat.

Great work Josh!!!

Marcel, I thought of you as soon as seeing Josh's knives as they would fit your collection so well.
I hear there's still airline seats available. ;) But seriously, I will be there, so if there's anything I can do or look at for you guys just let me know.

I have never really been a fan of the "Dogbone Bowie" design, however am finding myself getting very attached to them as a result of the recent great examples. Hear John White is about to finish his first.

It's pretty obvious from what we are seeing that makers are committed to making the first San Antonio Expo and outstanding show in both venue and the knives.

two outstanding knives Josh and the dagger is very unique. Unfortunately I'll not be able to see them in person so thanks for the photos.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I am really looking forward to seeing the Alamo, River-walk, and Texas in general. My wife, daughter, and I are heading down Tuesday to spend the week. I can't wait for the the after hours tour of the Alamo.

Looks like there will be some great knives too. That Fuegen goblin is awesome among some of the other great knives here.

Thanks again for the compliments.

I like that Dunn hunter!

Josh, you'll enjoy San Antonio, it's a city with some real history and character. Just be prepared for the heat :)

Look forward to seeing everyone in San Antonio!

Man is there some awesome knives in this thread! I love the hatchet Ed, and the wood for the haft is just as spectacular as the steel!

Nice stuff!!!! The pattern on that Steve Dunn bowie is outrageous. I will be in Dallas this weekend, but I don't think that I will be able to make it down to San Antonio.:grumpy: Hopefully in the next year or two, I might have a table there.:D

I've been so busy lately, I'll only have a couple knives at the ABS Expo this year, but this is the fun one. I drew out this knife several months ago giving no thought to how hard it might be to build. I just liked the design. So I thought I'd give it a go. I took a bunch of photos for myself, so I hope I don't annoy....

The Legacy Dagger has a blade just shy of 10" and an overall of 15". Blade is laminated steel (416 with a 52100 core). Fittings are turkish-twisted firestorm damascus. The handle is walrus ivory.

The handle is held on with a silver tang "button."

For my higher-end knives I'm going to start making storage / display boxes for them. This is the first one. The box is rough-sawn "barn" oak with some of the rough areas left in. The nails around the edge are antique wrought iron nails I personally pulled from a 150 year old building here in Bristol. I forged the latch on the front.

Hope to see a lot of you guys in San Antonio!

Burt Foster- you are an amazing knife maker and person in general, and not a day goes by that I don't regret canceling the order I'd placed with you.
I am a doofus.
Your knives are amazing.

Burt,

That dagger would be a centerpiece in any collection. Beautiful work my friend.

That's a beautiful Dagger and Display Burt. Can't wait to get a good look at all these outstanding knives.

For those of you who will be arriving by Friday morning, stop by the Baker Conference room at 11:00am. I will be doing a collecting seminar/discussion for the ABS.
Last time I did this at Reno it was a lot of fun. Always good seeing knife buds and putting faces with the names of some of you here on the forum.
Travel safe!

hey Burt

I'm liking that display box idea even more now :D

looks really nice in an "heirloom" kinda way !
