Activity on the exchange recently

How are you guys giving "Likes" to these posts? I thought that was not possible in the feedback section. I know I don't have that option.

The thread was moved from another area where likes were permitted, and they followed on...otherwise, mods can use likes in all areas.

With all of the scams lately, sellers that won’t accept PayPal G&S payment, may be missing out on many cautious potential buyers, which results in their knives remaining unsold.

Yep!
There's a few listed now I would be interested in buying, but the sellers only wanting payment via f&f seems pretty self centered.

If you want my money, I'm going to require some protection.
I don't care what your feedback ratings are, or how long you've been here.

If you're the one that wants to sell the knife, don't act like you're doing us all a favor by listing it.

On the other hand, sellers who insist on F&F have saved me some money lately.

You know, I have to agree with you on that! I’ve walked away from some purchases because I didn’t like that attitude. But, I can see how someone can develop an attitude like that after years of dealing with some of the people out there .

I can see that too.

I'm just not gonna get into a finger pointing contest in the event of a problem, just because someone wants to avoid a 1099.

Trustworthy people have nothing to hide.

Can't speak for everyone, but MY choice for not using paypal has nothing to do with taxes.
It's all political..... THERES.

And I don't like automatically being thought of as a criminal.

I agree. I think PP provides a valuable service and protects the buyer. I generally don't request PPFF (aside from international sales) and, when buying, will offer to cover the PP fees to the seller in exchange for using PP G&S.

If someone refuses an offer to cover fees, I have to seriously wonder as to why...

TURN ON TWO STEP VERIFICATION! Come on guys.
Glad to see folks mentioning two-step verification. Until yesterday, I didn't realize it was available on this site. I had to look for it, but it was easy to set up once I found it. Seems like it would be a worthy addition to the new "Best Practices" page.

I've been very fortunate to avoid any issues here or elsewhere. But after watching events unfold this week I will be adjusting my buying/selling habits!

I never understood this…why F&F for international sales?
Because, in international transactions, I don't have easy access to the courts and don't trust their mail systems.

The only way I am willing to do an international sale is if its done 100% at the other sides risk (meaning, if literally anything goes wrong, its not my problem). Otherwise, I don't do the trade / sale.

Why not just not sell internationally?

I am perfectly fine with that too. Either the international party meets those terms or I pass.
So you would like the $ but don’t want responsibility if something goes awry?

Coleman, there's really no point arguing this, IMHO.

Lots of folks feel insecure because they have no experience dealing with international matters...whether through credit card companies, banks, PayPal, what have you. So, rather than take a chance, they punt. I'm guilty of the same but for a relatively small number of folks in Canada, Europe, Israel, etc that I knew personally via the forums.
