Adventure Begins...Sailing S/V ORCA From California to Alaska.....

I made it to Tok Alaska this evening. Tomorrow I'll be in Yukon Territory, British Colombia.

I'll post some photos of the Matanuska Glacier tomorrow morning before I head out. Once in British Colombia, internet connection may not be available for me until Ian's house in Dawson Creek. I'll try to get on and post as often as possible.

Good night....:p:)

There is something I really like about the black spruce... They are so strange looking, yet they always make me feel at home

I pulled over here to handle some business on the phone... Looks like it's not open for the tourist yet...

Gotta hit the road... Going to try to get as far as Destruction Bay, British Colombia today...
The road is terrible from the Canadian border to there. Full of frost heaves, bumps, pavement breaks and gravel...
This is the worst part of the road in the whole trip...

More later... :):p

I cannot believe I did not see this thread before. Thanks for the great pics!!!

Herreshoff designed and built the best sailboats. His designs were undefeated in the America's Cup races. I do a lot of sailing on the Narragansett bay and anytime I see a Herreshoff I get all excited. I am happy that you got to sail on one. The Herreshoff museum is really cool. Also the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, MA has a exhibit of model sailboat hulls and most of them are Herreshoff designs.

Before you read this thread you should take a few hours to read the original thread of the trip to Alaska.
I am so looking forward to following you on this trip!
Godspeed.

Interesting roof.. Goes to the ground. Keeps the snow from sticking to it...

Looks like a power "plant" in the background to the right. The road has a T-intersection and you can go right to catch the Marine Highway....
