After Sale Lounge

What? Nathan only managed to hurt one butt? In other words, his best attempt is one butt-hurt punter who was willing to go on record? Nathan must be losing his touch! He used to be a lot more edgy when it came to being P.I. I'd say, "Nathan go ahead, do not hold back and and hurt more butts!". I approve of this message.

Right? FFS...

Thanks Nathan and Jo for the Pre Order!
Being from Straya, we very much appreciate the opportunity to utilise the Pre Order as opposed to - annoying our significant other - by getting up before dawn to wait online for a '1/200' chance of scoring a knife in a Friday sale. Please keep Pre Orders going! 🙏

Quoting you here so as not to muddy up the sales thread. Nathan has always been very frank and transparent when it coms to pre-orders. He doesn't like them but he offers them because many of us of greatly appreciate the low stress opportunity to acquire a very fine knife. If he were to stop offering them because of sentiments you have expressed, we would be bummed but we also would understand.

Still, he laid out the stipulations very clearly. If one finds them unacceptable, then one isn't obligated or forced to pre-order. I, on the other hand, am grateful for whatever happy surprise awaits me 6 months to a year+ from now.
You might not be as bummed if he stopped pre-sales if the regular sales were fair and everyone had an equal chance of winning.

When the fast guys always win, everyone should understand it's a biased, unfair contest. I have a professional designation where ethics is heavily stressed and violations are enforced. Requiring full payment upfront a year before the expected delivery date seems unethical, especially when sales of the same product are ongoing. I could see a deposit of 20, 25% as reasonable, but 100? One only has to look at the Survive Knives scandal to know 100% pre-payment way in advance is a bad idea. CPK pockets $90k upfront on this pre-sale. The fact that he's "upfront" about it doesn't make it okay. I like knives and I'm bummed I won't get an EDC. When I see something is unfair, I speak my opinion. Anyway, I appreciate your comments.

Quit lol, your post in the pre-order is well within the realm to get a knife and if you’ve noticed, the thread isn’t closed yet which means people can still get in on it. Nate will close it when he knows it’s going too far so go edit your post and tell everyone what you’re ordering! *noted Nathan

Edit by Nate: let's try to remember that this is a low drama zone and we're all here to have a good time. The language might be a little bit contentious there.

While I will agree that there are potential pitfalls with the methodology, and can understand that you do not favor nor condone the practice, please be careful that your words do not impugn the integrity of Nathan and Jo Carothers and the company they have built. Agree, disagree, but to imply a lack of integrity will not fly.

Hello I'm sorry you're upset

I used a cell phone.... with slow work internet..... while in the middle of my work day and made it in on the sale of 40 today

If you can't make it in on a sale a lot of awesome people will proxy for you if you ask and help you out!

With regard to people getting in on the Friday sales and the preorder, I tried to do the same. I want one simple EDC knife that I can have in a few weeks turnaround and one I can add a bunch of $$ options to and wait a year. 2 different knives, 2 very different ways to get them.

For whatever it’s worth, I’m a nobody from Australia and managed to sneak in using my work supplied iPhone that’s several years old.

I'm not upset, not in the least. It's amusing how everyone's feathers get ruffled if one expresses their opinion. Glad you snagged one!

Comparing CPK to Survive knives, even anecdotally, is the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

CPK is already established. Not to mention before Nathan generously offered the preorder, he tried to discourage preorders...several times.

Nathan clearly outlined the terms of the preorder. We can all choose to accept those terms or not. It's up to each individual. There's nothing unfair about it. Who the hell are you to say it's "unethical"?

Edit by Nate: easy brother, let's take the tone down a notch.

It's really an awesome group of people here , that will help others out

I say ask some one for help with a proxy next sale

Nathan , Jo and the rest of the CPK crew are outstanding people....

I think that's the cornerstone for why awesome people are here

My feathers are pretty smooth, if I do say so myself.

It's a matter of having proper discourse. Offering one's opinion and having said opinion being addressed and countered is not ruffled feathers - that's just having a discussion.

Maybe you should read your post over again with an open mind regarding how others might view your referring to the Carothers' business practice as (seeming to be) unethical. Those are not words to be taken lightly...whether given, or received.

There is a world of difference between the Carothers' and Survive! Knives.

Yikes...
Just hopped in here to give thanks to Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist and Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist as well as the entire CPK crew for the opportunity to snag these. I really appreciate these pre-order sales.
Yins are the best!!
