Ah-oooooh! The Coyotes are here!

Coyotes are naturally shy creatures:

Deep gratitude to Paul/pmew for sending this my way - one of the (many) good people here! Here it is emboldened by the company of its brother prior to it's transatlantic voyage:

Glad it arrived safe my friend, I was worried the poor little'un was still swimming!

Again, much obliged. My first ever Royal Mail package - such a cool name.

Thank you, sir. Another first ever - a Wharncliffe. I like the straight edge so far - maybe I'll pick up a lambsfoot someday (I became acquainted with those via your posts).

Pretty sweet, MrBitters! :D

I have managed to amass a few and have a couple of questions.

I've noticed that some come with the Coyote pins and some don't. Did they run out or are people snitching them?

What's the highest serial number for a natural stag? Mine is 39 and the one in the immediately preceding post is 63.

The workmanship in the ones I have seem to be a cut above.

Thanks, Tom

I have the 73 serial number in natural stag, but I assume there are higher numbers. The workmanship on my Tidioute brown jigged bone Coyote is surprisingly better than the Northfield. The spring is flush in open, closed, and half-stop on the brown bone, but only in open and closed on the Northfield.

I think I saw Serial Number 91 on the KSF site . I have No. 10 that I got from CK and the blade is flush in all 3 positions.

Forgot the fixed blade at home today. Had a faulty plug end that needed repair and the coyote had no problem cutting and striping the wires. I really like this little knife and like most things, my tastes in knives has shifted. What a vicious cycle knife collecting can be :D

Reviving the thread to say that I've never owned a small folder that manages to appear in my pocket day in day out like the coyote. I love the 47's but don't often have any reason to have 2 wharncliffes in pocket on a given day. The green micarta coyote + an Alox Cadet has become my all the time carry. I know the Beagles have taken the new hype but the Coyote is a fine companion, especially in an office environment!

When i was on KSF picking out my yellow beagle I noticed that they'd put another brown coyote up...so as usual I ended up spending more than I wanted to. Must have fallen behind a filing cabinet or something. :)

I imagine Derrick held a few back while he decided if he was going to horde or sell. :p :D If I were him I'd have held onto all those wonderful camel bone 'yotes. Mine almost never leaves my watch pocket now, and if it does it's often in favor of a stag or Osage 'yote. I've got a line on an oil sucker rod Beagle, though, and your photo of yours together may have pushed me over the edge.

Edit: And my latest #18, OD green micarta, just arrived today. I swear, it's a sickness. :o

MrBitters, that's quite the coyote pack you have there!
How many of these gems do you have now, TsarBomba?
I've never been a collector as far as trying to complete a set, but I do like to have a spare sometimes.

I've been carrying the osage almost daily, and it's got a nice dark patina now.

The camel bone, on the other hand, has been sitting on my computer desk where I use it like a worry stone while on the phone. I finally decided to stop holding back and let it get some use. It should have some patina by the end of the weekend. :)

Ask and you shall receive. Here's a comparison with a #25 and an even more ubiquitous small knife, the SAK Classic.

It is, to be sure, a very small knife, but I think I'll find it useful. It is pinchable (though it does have a rather light pull and opens easily with the nail nick as well), and it does have a half-stop.

Edited to add: Here's one in-hand for good measure.

Perfect Size Little knife to pal around in your pocket . Congrats!

I've got four 'yotes in the pack. I don't know if I'm going to complete the set -- AFAIK I'm missing camo acrylic, sangria jigged bone and the Northfields (minus my natural stag which I lucked out in getting). I put them together for a group shot in an attempt to get them inducted into the Cult of the Peanut. I think the shield on the micarta 'yote picked up a reflection of my phone case because it's dead mint -- I think its maiden voyage will be for tomorrow's Synthetic Sunday.

My camel 'yote picked up a nearly-instantaneous patina taking a photo of it with an apple before I even had a chance to carve the rest of it up. I was planning on my Osage being the EDC (after somehow causing a slight scratch in the pile side bolster, to my consternation) but I just can't get over that camel bone. Ultimate worry stone material and super pretty.

Camo acrylic on the way, should pair nicely with my camo PM2... Is there a support group for 'yote addiction?
