Ah-oooooh! The Coyotes are here!

Anxiously awaiting a OD green micarta Coyote coming to me from Ohio. If I like it, the sangria bone maybe next. I am looking for something with some colour. I am hoping it feels a bit more substantial than the Case Peanut I own. I like the Peanut,,but I expect to like and carry the coyote more. The Peanut sort of gets pocket use when we attend a wedding or other family function. I wish I had seen the bottle green Vipers when they first came out. I would have jumped on that one.

Do these GEC knives models/colours/handle materilas come around again with some frequency, because they sure disappear fast if you are not paying attention. Maybe part of their charm.

This is the first time they have ever been made . Who only knows when they will be made again !!!

Hard to predict the frequency Mike, I'm longing for another Conductor release but it never seems to happen. Tons of Barlows and 15s keep everybody interested it seems. Like you, I don't live in the US so I advise you to get a knife when you can, hesitation can lead to a long wait! I'm wondering about the Peanut and Coyote, the real analogy could be the Mini Copperhead as that's Wharncliffe too, or the CASE Swayback. The Beagle probably is even closer as it is 2 bladed but I prefer a small single blade or single spring 2 blade knife. The Viper is a large Swayback and you might well like it. I have one in Osage.

I'm interested in seeing the Stag versions of this knife could be very suitable.

Thanks, Will

Mike, they do disappear quickly. You should be able to find that Viper and Coyote, easily. There will be another #18 as well and it's called the Beagle. Not sure if you knew, so I thought I'd mention its upcoming production.

I was going to get a Peanut, just because, but these came out, and I like them much better.

Any slip joint knife blade that's under 3 in. is a Gentleman's carry, IMO. I do live in the southeastern US and knives are everywhere. These knives are so small that it would be hard for me to tote it alone.

You can still reserve a Beagle at CK , but I do not know if Mike ships to Canada . You would just have to check that out.

Thanks for the help in locating the Oily Creek.

I appreciate it.

I received my first Northfield Coyote today, African blackwood, and I don't know but that I like the Tidioute blade better. It reminds me of the Lloyd and Davison offerings.

The Northfield seems to have better snap in its closing tho. It's a small sample size so I may be jumping to conclusions.

Finally getting around to showing my Osage sorry for the bad pic. I made a few pens in Osage to go along with the Coyote.

Hey, I can do that too. :D

:D:thumbup: Nice!

My plan was the same as yours: I was going to use the osage all the time (it's already got bolster "character" :D) and leave the bone for the safe, but once I got my fingers on it things changed. :o

Yes. I haven't gotten to carry my camel bone yet, but I really like the feel of it. Like a smooth river rock. I'm sure it will find its way into my pocket.

And a lovely job you did. Thank you!

You are quite welcome Rachel, and I love my slip you made. ;)

I had a look at the Case Swayback. The red bone one I liked is backordered, but I do like the size and look of the knife. I also prefer the single blade pocket knives. Thanks for pointing out that Case.

There is a coyote/peanut comparison thread here
from there;
While I don't have a side by or comparison pic of those two. I know that I wasn't captivated by the one Case Peanut I held in hand. I prefer the Swayback for a small knife in the Case line. But I like the GEC "chunk" in comparison to other knives of similar make and pattern so I was interested to see what they did with on their version of the Peanut. I have a Coyote now and a Beagle on order. I like the Coyote a lot. I hope I like the Beagle too but I am skeptical about the smaller secondary blade on such a small knife.

So again not exactly what you asked for...but hopefully somewhat helpful.

@Old Engineer I am not usually a huge fan of stag but wow! That is A LOT of character in those small slabs! Very nice snag :)

Got mine in, and I am most impressed.

The Cult of the Peanut may be overtaken by the Cult of the K-9s...

I was thrilled to receive a small package from Paul PMEW today, containing this Tidioute Coyote in osage! :) :) :)

Many thanks Paul, you're very kind. The Coyote went straight in my pocket, and I'll carry it on my birthday tomorrow :)

Along with Paul's package, I also received the first issue of the subscription to Blade I won in Randy's generous Christmas Eve giveaway. Thanks again Randy :)
