Ahem... The Caly 3 is Here!

This knife is not good...

It means that i'm going to have another $100 trying to fight it's way out of my wallet. :D

No lanyard hole, right? What do people thing of the wire-frame clip. Never had one of those before. It looks a little cheap and flimsy, though I doubt it is.

OK RON, your thread is worthless without some of your awesome pictures!! I want one of these so bad. I have contacted New Graham and they may have one for me:D. I hope, I hope!!

Hi Ratberg42
I've been edc"ing my native with a wireclip for over six months and it holds up very well even better as the older flat clips. The steel VG10 is great and needs a quick touch up every two weeks to get back to razorsharp. i think spyderco makes very good knives at good price .
Hellas not here in europe wolfster.de has a pre-ordering at 132 euro (approx X 1.225 = 161 dollars !!!!) for the caly 3
I'll ask new graham for the shipping costs to the netherlands.

I want a caly 3 pe veryy badd!!! LOL

I beleive they are superior to the old clip in every way besides aesthetics, which Spyderco never focused on anyway. They feel better in the hand, don't get snagged as easily, don't scratch things as easily, and they are very tough and stiff. The one on my dodo got caught on a chair so badly it snapped the screw and tore away some of the G10, but the clip itself was just a little bend, took a few seconds with some pliers to fix and when my new screw came in from Spyderco, I put it right back on and it worked as good as ever.

You will absolutely love it, Ron!

I'll try to get some photos posted this weekend. I have to watch my Tigers trounce the Yankees tonight.

Finally I got home and opened the box. I was little nervous, because I wanted this knife since I saw it first time on the pictures from Amsterdam show and I was afraid to be disappointed. I was not sure about wire clip and black G10. I was so wrong. I love this black G10 and I love low riding wire clip Handle is very comfortable and I have to use finger choil, which is good, it has nice traction grooves, great. No blade play, everything just perfect.
I cut something and put Caly3 in a pocket. I had some food, sharpen my Native, washed stones and took Caly3 out. I cannot put her away. WHAT A WONDERFUL KNIFE. She is everything I wanted and even more. Sal and Spyderco did a great job. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I am looking forward to get CF Caly3. The question now is when?
I did not mention, that knife is razor sharp; this is not a surprise, we would not expect anything less from Spyderco.

OK- You got me w/ the Captain & I'm going to have to bite on a Caly 3 in a week or two as well.
A "regular size" Caly (~3.75" blade) w/ the same basic configuration would be a treat as well...

Sal, you did it again, tempted me sorely, email sent to NewGraham tonight...

Looks very nice, the Caly has been my fav design of yours for a very long time!

Now where did I put that wallet...ah yes, on the shelf next to the moth balls ;)

I'll probably have to get one of these in a few weeks or months when the first rush is over. Since I already have a UKPK, and have used slip joints for many years, I'm in no hurry. Since the UKPK runs about $80 these days, I expected the Caly 3 to run around a hundred, and it sounds like it should be that or even a little less when I get around to buying one.

Is there anyone with one of these that is not happy and considering selling ?

Hope you all don't mind indulging a Spydie newb. How would you compare/contrast the Caly to an Endura or Delica, besides blade size? What about this knife would commend the higher price? Thanks in advance.

The Caly III and Delica 4 are almost identical in size, with the Caly being a little longer.

The blade shape and full flat grind on the Caly make is more versatile and a much better slicer than the Delica 4.

The wire pocket clip rifdes lowe and is more difficult to notice.

The ergos on the Caly III feel better to me, and the choil allows for more detail work and more grip options. The G-10 feels and looks much better than the FRN, and the full steel liners add strength and longevity over the partial liners in the Delica.

Got mine yesterday. I am very impressed! Super sharp out of the box and very well made, no play and solid as a rock lockup. The wireclip is nice and I love how it rides deep in the pocket. I definately feel more comfortable carrying this one in public for this reason as a large portion of the handle of my Native protrudes from the pocket when clipped.

PleaseI WANT Pictures of this little Beaty[/COLOR[/COLOR]

Not 1 but A LOT OF THEM !!!!!!!
