THIS!!!!

Thank you Sonny for saying what I was thinking.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Right - get out now, go enlist in the US Army, you will most likely be able to continue taking college courses as soon as you finish your initial entry training and get to your first duty station, you will have the GI Bill benefits also, leave now - make your own path while you are in service to the country.

Not gonna sugarcoat it, your parents sound like idiots. And you're a bit of an idiot for being 22 years old and going along with it. Wasting knives and money like that is plain stupid and all 3 of you should feel bad.

People can say that its commendable to respect your parents and all that, but respect is earned. And it doesnt sound earned here.

If you're 22, you are at least four yrs late from being on your own. It's time; live your life; be a man.
Don't think living at home with parents at 22 has anything to do about being a man or living your life. I was "on my own" at 22, but these days that isn't as common as it used to be. Finish up college and move forward toward your goals. Your parents are important. But you also have to be YOU.

Those are sentiments best expressed in person, not on the internet.

Unless something traumatic in their past experiences gave them an irrational fear of knives.
Grandpa might have tried to off himself with his service weapon when he found out he wasn't going to recover after the car accident. That's why I went along with everything, it just hurts my mom so much when she thinks about anything that can be a weapon.

And that's fine, you don't need to sugarcoat things, I'm an adult and I can take criticism head-on. Money wise I definitely agree that I could've hopped onto somewhere and sold them. But it's fine for now, we got through this situation as best as we could.

Im glad you're handling it well. And you seem like a good dude based on your posts. Id just say to try harder to be independent. The fact that your parents are perfectly fine with controlling you like that is a mark against them.

Although I agree on that point, I don't have the emotional backbone to handle criticism in person right now. So doing it behind a screen is the best that I can manage lol.
(Also I don't know any of you in person, but would love to chat ;))

And on that note, I thank you all for contributing, for helping me sort out this situation and giving me a place to vent. I will not leave this forum because I do feel that I have information to contribute and I do have a desire to help others on here and I still want to follow the trends.

Knife-wise, it's going to take a break, and that is fine by me. This experience for the past year was a pleasure to look at what I value not only in knives, but other products as well. Although I do not like crying, I do like buying once and being done with it.

When I return to knife collecting (yes it is a when), I am getting my hands on an s110v para 3. And at least one m390 version for too much money lol.

Wait. You’re joining the IDF and weapons aren’t allowed? Did I misread or am I just confused?

Folding knives in Israel aren't seen as kindly as other things. I do believe you misread this, which is fine. It's not so much of me bringing folders to Israel, but more of how I will be looked at by future LEO employers (which was discussed in previous posts as redundant)
Wouldn’t you have to worry about Mossad and not the FBI?
Yes... Depending on if I even get lucky enough to get looked at for Mossad. The FBI is what I want to ideally do once I get stateside after my service.

Well, good luck with your service, brother!
I’m not sure what’s the culturally correct thing to say, but if there’s something equivalent to Godspeed, that’d be about right.

It's not warm when she's away...

NOTE
: I love my parents more than anything, and I can understand where they are coming from, so I will not hold anything against them, and neither should you. ALSO HI FBI & NSA

WELP. LITERALLY 1 YEAR INTO THIS HOBBY (bought the CRKT drifter on April 13th 2017) AND... Time for a goodbye. AND to air out my dirty family laundry.

So remember how I posted a video of my Lionsteel roundhead? I enjoyed it and it was great. Unfortunately, my parents weren't as big of fans.

My dad came in with a "Don't you know the FBI's watching you, delete that g****m video" (read it like you're my chemical romance lol). So he told me to throw all my knives out until my mom stepped in. She explained to me that the FBI is watching me and that this might hamper my future in law enforcement (Jokes on them, because the FBI/NSA already knew about this considering my search history on Amazon to begin with).

I already knew that this would possibly be a reality so I was already prepared to throw everything away at a moments notice. They told me that they viewed them as weapons (which we've already talked about), and that advertising that I have weapons to the world is a way to destroy my future in law enforcement. TBH I don't really have a use for knives in my life, so I couldn't really justify having one (SD is not a viable use for me, and that will be the end of that conversation). (Cutting down boxes? Boxcutter. Opening letters? Scissors. Yes my knives did make them a little easier to handle, but it's not the end of the world)

So the compromise that they made me is that I could keep my sharpmaker, but had to throw out all the shiny and sharp things. No, I couldn't sell them because it would be the same as selling weapons to them. And they told me to pick up a new hobby so it's whatever. (I'll try and see if I can get back the money that I just threw away)

Please don't be angry towards them, they truly do care. And we come from a country where people are stabbed with kitchen knives, so please try to empathize with why having a Cold Steel knife is not pleasant for them to see.

It was fun while it lasted, and I really did learn a lot here. I might eventually pick up a multi-tool, or have my own collection when I actually get a job as an LEO, but it can wait for now. I'll keep this account (if what they said is true, then I've already made my bed) and still interact with the community as best as I can, make my youtube/insta private AF, delete all my imgur images, and have everyone's fantasy come true, not to have to worry about spending money on knives (yes I know it's different, let me have this lol)

I can't stress this enough, I still love my parents. Getting rid of my knives is something that I mentally prepared for since day 1 of making my first purchase. Also, I am too easy to DOX. And why don't I have my own place yet? Because it actually would've made this situation 10x worse. They would've stripped that place clean leaving me without even a kitchen knife to cook with. At least living at home allowed me to come forward on my own and get rid of everything that I have on my own terms.

...Anytime she goes away, anytime she goes away, anytime she goes away...
You probably want to close this thread about now, but I am curious. You needn't answer of you don't want to, of course. Are you Haredi? Chasid?

Thank you very much. It’s a little bit away, and if it makes you feel any better, I don’t know what to say either haha

I will try to close this thread after work tonight, in order to get some good points and different viewpoints so I have something to read while on break lol.

To answer your question: I am 1/4 Aschenazi 3/4 Mizrachi. I don’t care too much for labels, because we have some racists in my family who we have disowned for the past 2 generations, and will make it a family tradition to continue disowning them:D

BTW, I posted earlier...recommending that you join the military... There has never been a better time to earn big money for your college. There is lots of "military" money floating around to help you fund college after your time in the military. Both of my sons, and myself, attended college and/or grad school...either partially or PRIMARILY due to the G.I. Bill.

Too late, dummy.

I'm the head of the FBI's Anti-People Who Own Knives And Want To Join The Military Or Law Enforcement Task Force and we put you on the "Kill On Sight" list a long time ago. Also, we forwarded your name to the IDF and the People's Liberation Army (just in case you randomly decided to join the Chinese military).

Should've kept the knives. Now you have nothing.
