Albers Cutlery Company

Not only are these knives great to look at and collect (I love doing both!), they are also awesome for using!

I was staring down at a dead squirrel yesterday and wondering what I was going to use to skin the rascal. Of course, since I'm posting in this thread, it was my trusty maroon micarta handled Albers.

Once I had it sharpened by a great sharpener, it has been a pocket razor that has been a great whittling companion as well. The stainless aspect of the construction really shines here, because there is going to be plenty of blood and it is going to get in the pivot. But a quick rinse after in the sink and a shake out and right back in the pocket. There just isn't much day to day cutting that this little pocket gem can't handle.

I was also thrilled and lucky when I scored on the last drop! The Beefwood is sooooo cool!

Are we nearing the lambsfoot?

Making slow but steady progress, just got the blades and springs sent out to heat-treat so now I wait, hopefully not too long. Everyone's so backed up lately! I spent the last few weeks doing nail marks and tang stamps while simultaneously working on the next batch of jacks, so things have been moving in fits and starts. Now I can start attaching 700 bolsters to liners 😵‍💫🤪

Here are a few progress pics:

It's good to see a lambsfoot coming up! I only wish I had a shot at getting one, I'm not nearly fast enough in these scrambles.

I’m really excited about your forthcoming Lambsfoot, Eric! Are you going to do a “First 15” trial run like you did with the jacks? I’d love to have one to go with my First 15 jack. Just sayin’… 😉😉😉😁

Oh man, I can't wait for these!

That's a handy little jig you're using for the nail nicks!

Also... Is that the hammer you use for peening? I've been using a small ball peen, but I've been wondering if a flatter hammer might reduce the crazing I've experienced, since the larger surface area would reduce the amount of force concentrated in one area.

Brian that's the hammer I use for the bolster pins. For the handle pins that I sand flush such as on wood or micarta I use a hammer just like it with a cut face. I spin the pins on jigged bone, stag, or any other textured handle.

Ah, gotcha. It'll be quite some time before I'm ready to put together a complete slipjoint, but I've been trying to slowly pick up the various skills needed. I'm just about ready to try my hand at some recovers on personal knives. :D Spun pins and bolster pins are definitely beyond me at this point, lol.

I'd love to see a pic of the hammer you use for cover pins if you end up having a chance.

Ooo wee! Looking real good! I've been checking my email everyday for the passed week or so because I had a feeling that the next batch was coming. Looks like I can chill for just a little bit. Can't wait to someday get my grubby hands on one!
