Well said CharlieIt's great that another American-made Lambfoot has arrived on the scene!!
Me either Steve, but I've got enough knivesDidn't even get the email![]()
It sure was!Turned out to be a pretty good night for you all-around looks like![]()
I didn't get the email till 8:06. It's just really frustrating. Each time, I think maybe there's a chance, and then I find out they've already been sold out for an hour before I ever got the email. Oh well, congrats to those who scored.
I agree. You win some you lose some. But to be clear this isn't about getting the email notification on your phone/or even noticing the email some X amount of minutes later. Instead it's getting the notification of the drop sent from whatever server an hour after the knives have already dropped on the site. Big difference. This happened in realtime while I was in my email. I thought it had happened before but had no way of knowing for sure until this last drop.Every dog has his day. Sometimes my emails hit on the hour, sometimes 5 minutes after, sometimes 10. I manage to miss out regardless.I could be 10 minutes early and still miss out. But that’s what keeps it fun. Been trying for Albers for over a year. I can snag every GEC drop but the Albers eludes me!
Interesting...it's almost like an unintentional FCFS lotto. Better than how a lot of makers do drop actually.
No need to apologize. You keep on building those beautiful knives. You would never have any way of knowing unless it was ever mentioned. I'm guessing that is what's going on as well. ThanksGuys I apologize for all the notification angst. I have no idea what happens once I hit send, it's completely out of my control. They go out through my website host, not through my own account. I have about 1600 people on my notification list. When I type up the notification I include every one of those people as recipients and hit send, that's it. Five seconds after that the knives go live on the site. What I'm thinking is that none of these business hosting sites are set up for mass emails that need to go out at exactly the same time. Maybe that's too much for their servers, or servers beyond that? I have no idea. They're more accustomed to retailers who send out notifications for days long sales or upcoming events so there's no urgency in getting messages out all at once.
What I think I'm going to do on the next drop is send the notification out the afternoon of the drop, say two or three hours before the knives go live. I think that should give it enough time to disperse. It'll still be a lollyscramble I'm sure but at least everyone will be on even footing (I hope!). It's worth a try at least.
I wish I could offer more on these drops but fifty knives seems to be my limit for the time I have to get them out. Can't go any longer or I wind up scraping the change can for food money. Especially now, costs the last year have REALLY gone up! Hopefully I'll have another batch ready in 4 or 5 weeks, I'll try to keep you updated.
Eric
I think your plan for the next drop is a good one if there are batching delay issues. We all appreciate you trying to even the playing field for us Albers-less folks.Guys I apologize for all the notification angst. Yes I've got enough parts here for around 325 more knives so I'll be doing them for a while. After they're gone I'll be going back to the regular jacks for a bit but I'll be bouncing back and forth between the two for the foreseeable future.Eric, do you plan on sticking to the lambsfoot for a bit?
