Albers Cutlery Company

Guys I apologize for all the notification angst. I have no idea what happens once I hit send, it's completely out of my control. They go out through my website host, not through my own account. I have about 1600 people on my notification list. When I type up the notification I include every one of those people as recipients and hit send, that's it. Five seconds after that the knives go live on the site. What I'm thinking is that none of these business hosting sites are set up for mass emails that need to go out at exactly the same time. Maybe that's too much for their servers, or servers beyond that? I have no idea. They're more accustomed to retailers who send out notifications for days long sales or upcoming events so there's no urgency in getting messages out all at once.

What I think I'm going to do on the next drop is send the notification out the afternoon of the drop, say two or three hours before the knives go live. I think that should give it enough time to disperse. It'll still be a lollyscramble I'm sure but at least everyone will be on even footing (I hope!). It's worth a try at least.

I wish I could offer more on these drops but fifty knives seems to be my limit for the time I have to get them out. Can't go any longer or I wind up scraping the change can for food money. Especially now, costs the last year have REALLY gone up! Hopefully I'll have another batch ready in 4 or 5 weeks, I'll try to keep you updated.

Eric

I wonder if the emails are going out in batches, but they are doing so alphabetically based on the email address or name of the person. Mine starts with a letter very close to the beginning of the alphabet, and I got the notification instantly.

Eric, sounds like a good plan. Even a heads up on the week they will drop would be great. It’s been my experience that day of notifications create a lollyscramble as well. Maybe it’s just me but I like the suspense of trying to figure out which day of the week you will drop. 🤷😀
I am thrilled to hear that you are going to be making more of this beautiful pattern!

I'm just tickled to see the success and popularity of your knives.... which is expected, because of the quality of knife you make.
It appears that you should be able to increase your prices to cover material cost increases, and STILL sell out in mere seconds....
That's what happens when you are the MVP of boutique knife makers.... 😁

100%.

Not that I’m trying to talk Eric into increasing his prices…. But considering the prices being asked for knives of similar materials and craftsmanship, I’d be more than happy to pay $300 for the knives.

Man’s gotta eat!
