Alexander Dietz - worst customer service ever. Still don't have my knife 5 months

I will, just about to board a plane. Its also disabled. The knife looks amazing I think. Having a problem with it wanting to open on his own, but he thinks he can fix that.

Ok, so I have just finished browsing this intense, densely packed thread for info on the current business dealings of Mr. Dentz. I was hoping to send some work his way with a limited edition folder I have but honestly I am not so sure. However, from what I can gather, things are on the up and up and Alex is making his way through the lists of customers on hold? Did I miss anything or something a newcomer should be concerned about entering that list at this day and time? Thanks

Alex is working through a few small issues with the lock on my barrage so I still dont have mine back. I'm guessing just about any day now.

As best I can tell, he still has a big backlog. I would recommend waiting until he has cleared it up completely. He may do the best work available. I couldn't vouch for that. But there are others who do good work and do it NOW.

Post what you want done in Wanted: Knifemaker / Craftsman / Related Services and look over the work of the guys who offer their services.

More importantly to me, there are others who do good work and do it when they promise to do it and don't shine you on for months on end. Like apparently happened here not only to the OP, but also to jeffsenpai (and others?).

Well I've got pictures of my knife, but no knife yet.

Work looks good, fit and finish looks great. Getting a little antsy at this point. It seems pretty obvious that it only took him a few hours to do the work, including the spacer (7 hours to . I got those pics 5 days ago. Along with this email

"Were all pretty much finished up , only problem I ran into was the knife wanting to open by itself whuch is why they probably had the lock on the barrage . Normally the axis lock springs hold the blade down wich is there form of a detent with the 2 springs under tension the blade likes to open very easily as the assist spring overpowers the axis springs . Best bet would to de assist the knife but if I can im going to try and re do the spacer with the lock system integrated so you can have it either way . Here are some pics for ya "

I responded the next day (4 days ago)

"It looks really good, let me know if you can come up with a fix.

Also is it possible to stone wash the clip to match the blade?"

lol...got no response for 2 days to a direct question, so I emailed again, also seeing what the status was.

"Just seeing if anything had happened with the assisted opening?

Also can you stone wash the clip?"

Got a response

"Im going to have to try and make a new spacer for it , it doesn't function properly without the lock "

That was 2 days ago.

I just don't understand. Took 7 hours to make 2 scales and 1 spacer, yet it's now taken 5 days to modify the spacer? On 2/26 I was told I've have tracking that Friday, 2/28. I understand issues happen, but it never should have come to this.

Best, It looks really good. Not sure why he isn't taking it to completion, even as he finds problems. I wouldn't work on more than 1 thing at a time myself , unless it was a matter of production or lack of materials. I personally would let him get it done. Then I would share the rest of my thoughts.:) You know. maybe I would be less emotional but still truthful to the last episode. I would sum it all up nicely. Then close this puppy so I had the final say. Cause in the end. I paid and my opinion is really what matters telling my experience.

I look forward to you finishing this long strange trip with Alex.

Best wishes

James

Totally understand,

last tid bit, I was reading about ZT's and a guys sig line said , and Alex's reply reminded me of it

just about done , BUTT not an exact quote

"If you tell me Bacardi is rum one more time, I'm going to burn this bar down" sticktodrum IIRC

Best , Best

Great sig line, by sticktodrum:.

"If you put Bacardi in my glass again and try to tell me it's rum, I will burn this bar to the ground!"
-A paraphrase of something I read, to which I related strongly.

Maybe I'm just dense (or young), but I don't understand this quote.

The work looks stellar, but I just don't understand how you can spend ~7 hours making a spacer and scales and acid wash and for 6 days you make no progress on a spacer fix to make the knife operate properly. That's really frustrating.

Best,

I personally couldn't explain why he does what he does. It wouldn't work for me, even without having to consider the customer. I say it just comes down to a persons knowledge and their ability to utilize it . That probably goes without saying. Ignorance is bliss if you live on an island.

The quote I relate to , Alex saying its about done. like completion is imminent. Yet the time it is taking suggest they aren't the same. and if you keep telling me this . I am going to get CRAZY.

Best, I don't want you shooting yourself in the foot. You managed to keep the safety on this long. You have been extremely patient.

The end is near! He has to deliver SOON SOON SOON!

Well,

all good things in all good time. I know you must be stoked. I think you deserve a lot of credit for taking a big breather on this situation. its easy to tell people how they should feel when we aren't experiencing it. I honestly don't know how you did it.LMFAO
Well I suppose you'll give a review once in hand?

have a good weekend Best,

James

I think it sad that Alex has gone through some really trying times. What he needs to do is RETURN the money to everyone still waiting for a knife and whose due date has long passed. This will minimize frustrations

Having been through hell myself a few years ago, I have "fond" memories of telling the Mortgage company of terrible times I had encountered. I had fallen behind in my mortgage for the very first time in 22 years, all attributable to family issues. They still started the Foreclosure proceedings...........................That is reality.
