Alexander Dietz - worst customer service ever. Still don't have my knife 5 months

He messaged me again on IG this morning actually and said it would be done this weekend, either tomorrow or sunday and that he would send me pictures. It's the next knife up I guess.

Get your knife back yet? Alex messed up the milling on mine, but says he has extra material and will be working on it tomorrow.

Nope! No pictures yet either, although he said mine was the next one after he finished Sycamore #3... interesting that he still has yours to do as well.

He's been emailing me today. I was originally supposed to have silver LSCF, but he doesn't have enough to do both sides so I'm just going to get regular carbon fiber just to get this thing done. You might want to e-mail him. He has been responsive the last couple days.

Any luck on your knife? I still haven't gotten mine and haven't heard from Alex since the 3rd.

Three days ago, he messaged me on IG and said it was halfway done, and that he was visiting his grandmother which is why it wasn't finished. I still have no pictures to prove this though.

Dillon, that made me bust out in laughter in a very quiet waiting room. Lol

I heard back from Alex today. He described some more personal problems in his life that were the cause of the latest delay and says that my knife will be done Monday.

He did at least give me his cell so hopefully he'll be a little easier to reach now.

These knife makers sure seem to have a lot of personal problems.

I received the same message as well yesterday, although my request for pictures (to prove that it's "almost finished") still has gone unanswered. I do have to agree with Gavin S. above, knifemakers seem to have pretty tumultuous lives apparently. Thank god these people are self employed and don't have to answer to anyone but those pestering them via email.

We are not all like this. Some of us run a tight ship and are grateful to be able to have the skill to be able to make a half way decent knife. I like to be a man who's word means something and even being self employed in my main job you always have someone to answer to. And you also have to take accountability if something disastrous like this happens to your business .

This whole mess should have been cleaned up by now.

If a guy takes orders, only death or three-limb dismemberment should stop you from delivering in a reasonable amount of time.

It is so refreshing to read, that some business people still adhere to this seemingly lost art, old school way of doing business. I grew up in a ranching community, where people would give you the shirt off of their back (if needed), looked you in the eye, & a hand shake was all that was needed.

This high tech, impersonal World that we live in today, (emails, pm's, text messages, instagram) appears to have given some of the unethical people in the business world, a different, more anonymous way of doing business. All of these excuses, are beginning to become, a bitter pill to swallow! Alexander Dietz, needs to be accountable for this type of attitude!!! Your, laissez–faire style of running your business, obviously isn't working out very well for you!

I just added you on Facebook, Mark; your knives are amazing!

Alex sent me a couple pictures of where he's at on my knife. It looks like we may be approaching the finish line.

You really can't knock the quality of his work when he comes through. My knife has been finished, and I have received videos and a tracking number. Glad to put this behind me.

Care to post the video?

It was DM'd to me on Instagram so I'm not sure if there's a way to do it. If not, I will make a video when it arrives to show it off. It's pretty damn impressive, minus the fact that he didn't use the agreed upon handle material. I had said purple G10 back when I ordered it, but it ended up the standard green canvas micarta that most po'boy's have.

Well Alex did deliver, and in spades I might add. I received the knife today and the fit/finish is outstanding, probably better than a custom Emerson. No one can knock him for the quality of his work, I just wish the whole situation was handled better and more expediently. Ultimately, I am pleased with the knife which is all that matters.
