I'll add to the show here. I just got this one today. It's my first selector and came with the three blades shown as well as the sheath. I don't think it's ever been used although the sheath is a bit dusty and needs to be washed.

I'd never noticed (:o:o) until now, that the nail nick on these is on the opposite side than usual. I wonder why that is????

I think the offside nail nick was made for the two blade Selector which had a nonlocking clip blade and a replaceable blade with an offside nick.

Strange. it seems that they made the replaceable clip blade in two versions, one with the nick on the left side, the other on the right (off side).

So far, every picture of a single blade model with a clip blade that I can find has the nick on the "off" side.

Tiguy, I think your correct on this thinking. I have a model 428 and thats the way it's shown in the 1989 catalog as new. DM

I guess that's so you could have two clip blades in the two blade model in case the main blade got dull or you want a clip blade that locks.

:) :) ...

I still need more Bucklite...

Here's a 424 NIB that I got off the bay a few weeks ago... I didn't have this year mark... I think I didn't anyway... Now I need to find some more Bucklites...

Thanks for looking, ITE ...

424...

:) Ally :)

Looked at my Selector stamped orange handle. Tang of clip blade marked 42801/. Clip, saw (42835\) and gutting(42805-) blades all nics on off side just like Plumbs. 300

My Selector blades are the same too... I guess that's the way they all come... Or do they... :)

That doesn't appear to be the case. Here's the picture from Buck's 1991 catalog that clearly shows the clip blade (#8) with the nail nick on the left side. The partially serrated clip (#6) also appears to be the same but the picture is a bit fuzzy to say for sure.

Thanks Dave, that clip blade with the nail nick on the left side is something to look for now...

Here's some pictures of the 1st 424, 2nd 424 and the 444... 3 Generations of Bucklites...
I don't have the 4th gen. the 484 to show... Maybe some one else does...

424s...

:) :) :)

Thanks Haebbie, for posting some pictures of that cool 425 on here... So it looks like it has Buck on one side and Blade on the other side...
But the last letter in Blade looks like a F to me... So is it a F or a E... ... What ever it is, it's different that's for sure...

Thanks, ITE

You're welcome, Armand. The last part of the E seems to be wiped out from wearing.

Haebbie
