ITE, I just finished reading the four part post regarding the history of the Bucklites as written by Steve, very cool info, and lots of it! Thanks for sharing that great info, and thank you Steve for writing it all down. Very interesting topic on more than one level...
It's too early, thanks for that history. We seem to be about the same age and both grew up with Bucklites. The first verison 422 was also my first knife. Mine was an olive drab and it was the only knife I carried or even owned until around 2005 when mine was stolen. I then started carrying various makes and models of other knives trying to find one I liked as well. About a year and a half ago I came across a well worn 1988 Olive Bucklite 422 that peaked my interest in various models of Buck knives. The 1988 wasn't the same as the first version, but it's close. I've got a pretty good "collection" of knives now, but it's more or less from me trying to find a perfect edc knife, and then buying one to use, and one to put away for a backup. But I kept going back to that 1988 Bucklite 422 to carry.
I don't really do the auction sites, but my wife went on there and bought me a "new" 1990 orange Bucklite 422, never sharpened in box and with sheath for my birthday a couple of weeks ago.
These old Bucklites to me bring back memories of when I started deer hunting in the 1980's and early 1990's. The 422 was all I ever carried or needed. Bucklites make me think back to recurve bows and old army surplus style camo.
