Hi ITE,

Geez.... email fail again

Sent via regular method this time.
So you can edit your post to remove it if you want :)

Chris, it was great talking to you, finely... I really like all your Bucklites... Thanks for sharing them... ITE ... :)

I had a great time talking to you too. I just wish I had more time!
But my gal insisted I get ready to go to the daughter's event...... and she IS the boss.... ;)

This is a cool Sheath for my Orange Selector... But all I need now are Oregon's Duck Blades to go with this set up...

:)

My first and only Bucklite.

In low light, the handles look brown, but it's definitely that classic dark purple maroon color they used in the '80s. Here's a close up of the blade and tang stamp: 422<

I've had it so long, I can't remember when I bought it. Must've been in the '80s, although it seems like I've had it longer. Bought it new at one of my favorite stores, Word Lumber Co. In Scottsboro AL.

I would appreciate any information y'all might give me about the history of my knife. I've carried it for 3 decades now, for farm work, camping trips in the San Juans, backpacking the AT... I've messed it up, resharpened it a bunch, lost it, found it, scraped the rust off... Over the years, I have accumulated fancier knives and used the Bucklite less. But it will always be #1 with me, the first knife I ever bought with my own money, and the knife with the most memories.

Thanks Doc, for sharing a little story about your first Bucklite... I bought the 422OD (green) one back in 84-85... It's been my favorite Buck knife...
It does everything I want, for the size... Anyway if you go to page 22 in this thread and read post #431 through post # 438 you will
learn a lot about Bucklites... If you get a chance go through all 30 pages... It's all about Bucklites... You can read this...

First introduced in 1984, the BuckLite family of knives started small, with just three models in two handle colors. The model 422 BuckLite was fashioned after the finger-grooved 112 Ranger and used the same modified clip style blade of that model. The handle surface of these first generation BuckLites featured a very small crosshatch pattern to improve grip, with the finger-grooved side and back edge left smooth. All of the first three models were available in a rich, dark, "chocolate bar brown" color and the 422 was also offered in olive drab. These new knives came standard with an entirely new sheath design to boot, essentially a canvas pouch with a belt loop sewn into the upper half and a Velcro closure at the top. The brown knives came standard with a tan and brown sheath, and the olive drab model 422 came with a green camouflage sheath. Both sold for $12.35, and sold quite well.

Take care and let me know what you think about the article that Steve wrote... ITE ... :)

Today was awesome.

I had given my "better half" a 424 to carry in her purse, and use as she sees fit.
Her first Buck knife.
Shoot.... It is actually her first real knife!

Anyway, we were painting a bathroom today, and while doing the prepwork I looked over at her.
There she was cutting plastic sheeting to size, and trimming pieces of painters tape..... Using her 424!!!
I am so proud :D :) ;)

Here is a picture of a 424 I got off the bay a few years ago. Did not get the box with it. PRCA = Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association

Thanks edbeau, for sharing your picture of your PRCA Bucklite on the Bucklite thread... I need to get a Sheath like that,
for my PRCA lite... I need the box too... Someday...

Here's a picture of my Selector's... All of them are 429's (V 52) but one and it's a 428...
I hope to find a few more 428's and 429's... I like the 429's the best...

One 428 and a few 429's...

:)

A "new" Lite in my collection. Dave M. gave it to me for easy hiking in the Apalachian mountains.
