All in on jacks

This half trapper (jack with a trapper frame) from Bret Dowell arrived just a little while ago. Its 3 5/8" closed with a 2 3/4" main blade. CPM154 blades, barbwire micarta covers and the gimp/yukon shield. Pull is a perfect 6.

Trand- you never stop amazing me with your fantastic collection.
With your massive GEC collection - do you also collect Charlie's SFO's at all. My sincerest apologies if I have missed them in the past.

You are making me envious, my man! That is just about as good as it gets. Congrats to you and Bret.

Singular, exemplary craftsmanship by Dowell. Worthy of at least a whole page of ptyalistic accolades.

Thanks for the kind word guys!!

Duncan, I had a few of Charlie's SFOs, mostly ones made by GEC. The only ones I still have are the new #48s as that is my favorite pattern. A single blade antique yellow arrived today along with the Dowell and I have one of the blood red jacks in my pocket right now. I wish I'd have been able to get one of the jacks in antique yellow but only 4 were made.

New arrival, Old Robeson Jack. Please forgive the poor pic, I'll try to shoot some better once it warm a bit.

Thank you Trand,
I was just wondering if you ever ventured into the TC Spear points etc, its always SUCH an amazing journey going through your photo's, thank you very much for.....

1,Taking the time to take your great shots of those lovely knives,..and...

2, Sharing your collection - others are not so willing, and also sharing your knowledge,

Yessir, it's cocobolo. The shape of the handle is very comfortable, as are all gunstocks, in my hands. Try one on for size. I think you'll be surprised how well they handle.

I was able to get in on the first run barlows, 1 and 2 blade / spear and clip main, but let them go to some members here who would had missed out. I'm down to just 2 barlows now but both are users... A Queen Dan Burke barlow and the 2009 forum barlow.

As for the pics and everything else, I actually enjoy that more than I thought I would :)

To be honest, I like the 85 a bit better than the 76 Gunstock. However, the 76 Moose (love that spey blade) is even closer to the 85, in overall comfort during use, than the Gunstock. I only speak from my experience. You may find that order completely reversed once you cut with each of them for a while.
I got the 76 Gunstock to fill a vacancy in the menagerie and because, as you noticed, it's just purty.

Yes, she certainly is a looker.
i've eyeballed the moose a few times, but i honestly wonder what the moose offers that the full size trapper doesnt...
same reason i cant see me buying an outlaw in all honesty, with the texas jack and the gec 85 i think i got my jackknives figured out pretty good.

i do think my next project will be a bushcrafter of some some sort
barring that a 3 1/4 pen knife in carbon steel i think

or more saks :D
