All in on jacks

Some really nice ones here lately.
Brent, that DE jack is great! Thanks for gracing us with its presence! ;)

I'm really digging that blue bone Ka-Bar!

Ed J

Me too, Ed. I've always liked the secondary blades Ka-Bar used in the late 80's (sort of a tall, modified wharncliffe). Their larger jacks of that period are favorites of mine, whether with a spear main or, like this one, a very traditional shaped clip blade. The choice blue bone made it all the more enticing. I couldn't resist the combination.

Here's a Ken Erickson 3 7/8" Serpentine Jack. CPM-154 blades and springs, ebony for the covers. My pics below, here's a link to Ken's pics.

With the other jack Ken made for me, and a couple comparison pics to the GEC #48 Jack.

I've never seen one with a long pull on the main blade and a pen secondary like your stag un-x-ld. Is that a special run?

No, it was part of the normal run of #48 Jacks in 2011. They just didn't have a whole bunch of cover options (2 types of Tidioutes, 2 types of Northfields and 1 short run)

Tidioute
#481211ECJ
Tractor Green Jig Bone 25 pcs. serialized 25 pcs. no serial number
Glitter Gold 25 pcs. serialized 26 pcs. no serial numbe

Northfield

Snakewood 5 pcs. no serial number
#481211J
Cherry Jig Bone 25 pcs. serialized 24 pcs. no serial number
Burnt Stag 25 pcs. serialized 12 pcs. no serial number

Here's an old pic but you can see an example of the cherry bone, stag, and one of the snakewoods.

Thanks for the pics and info, great looking knives! The Stag and Snakewood look especially nice, looks like they're all sold out online. The clip main and pen blade seems to be my favorite combo and the long pull always seems to just set it off.

Perry - I totally agree 100% with you my friend - viewing Trands collection would be like walking into a GEC stockhold Safe! - Trand I don't say it enough - I think you and your collection are just great - thank you for what you bring here to us with your forever inspiring collection and knowledge kind Sir!

Schrade 93OT Wrangler; 3-9/16" serpentine jack knife with the a pairing of my two favorite styles of blades - Turkish Clip and Sheepfoot. OH

Found this Queen Dogleg Jack a couple of weeks ago. It's the #51 in Carved Stag Bone. This is one of the best knives qualitywise that I have ever bought, the blade grinds, fit and finish etc., are impeccable, spring tension perfect, and it was sharp right out of the box to boot. I liked the size and main blade of the Mini Trapper style knives that several companies are making, but the secondary blade being a long spey I could not warm up to, then I looked around and found this Queen in the Dogleg Jack pattern, with the short pen style secondary blade and just love it! Perfect size for a pocketknife, and the blade selection is just right for my uses. Whoever assembled this one at Queen did an excellent job, and I like the bone-stag in this series of knives. Queen should bring the Carved Stag Bone back; the Amber version is OK, but I prefer the older version.

Phil, thank you for posting your Queen 51 Jack. It's a pattern I like greatly, but it's none too easy to find. I think they offered it in BEM but not in ACSB or Zebra. Like you, I prefer the earlier White Carved Stag Bone, although I do notice that the sides often don't match in this series, why I've no idea. Here's my 51 and mine is also excellently finished, a class or two ahead of CASE's Texas Jack I'd say. Regards, Will

Thanks for the kind words guys. I do enjoy the little bit that I do and I'm extremely thankful for this forum and the fine folks who make it what it is. I don't think I would have ever gotten a traditional knife, let a lone a jack, if not for this forum :)
