All in on jacks

Found this Queen Dogleg Jack a couple of weeks ago. It's the #51 in Carved Stag Bone. This is one of the best knives qualitywise that I have ever bought, the blade grinds, fit and finish etc., are impeccable, spring tension perfect, and it was sharp right out of the box to boot. I liked the size and main blade of the Mini Trapper style knives that several companies are making, but the secondary blade being a long spey I could not warm up to, then I looked around and found this Queen in the Dogleg Jack pattern, with the short pen style secondary blade and just love it! Perfect size for a pocketknife, and the blade selection is just right for my uses. Whoever assembled this one at Queen did an excellent job, and I like the bone-stag in this series of knives. Queen should bring the Carved Stag Bone back; the Amber version is OK, but I prefer the older version.

Phil, thank you for posting your Queen 51 Jack. It's a pattern I like greatly, but it's none too easy to find. I think they offered it in BEM but not in ACSB or Zebra. Like you, I prefer the earlier White Carved Stag Bone, although I do notice that the sides often don't match in this series, why I've no idea. Here's my 51 and mine is also excellently finished, a class or two ahead of CASE's Texas Jack I'd say. Regards, Will

Great looking #51 guys!! The white carved bone looks great on this pattern!!

Will, I don't remember seeing it in ACSB either but I'm sure it was available in BEM, Cocobolo, and most recently the Winterbottom jigged Delrin.

The shop where I got mine at had a cocobola one and a Schatt & Morgan with some orangy looking corncob jigged bone. Also had the Mini Trapper in carved stag bone. He's got several CSB knives; probably because of the pricing. Wish I could get one of each!

I don't remember seeing corncob jigged bone but I do know they offered a S&M in MOP. I wouldn't mind replacing the curly zebra mini trapper to a jack if Queen makes one.

Red bone circa 1971 Case XX USA model 62055 Cigar Jack. It's a nice carry size at 3 3/8 inches closed. ;)

Primble, love your Case 62055; I have a 1975, but by then the red bone has been replaced with a brown/black bone - it's still a great jackknife, just not as eye-catching. OH

On a Blasted Heath...GEC Bullet End Jack in Stag that I like to tell myself looks a bit Mammoth-like..:D

Will, it is mammoth-like. I actually thought it looked more like primitive bone than stag . . . very nice!

Thanks gents. Got a confession, I 'modded' it. When I first got it it was very light anaemic colour and the pile side too bulbous for my tastes. I whittled down some of the excess bulges on that side then after a few drinks...:D I summoned up the nerve to give this 85 a Tea Bath, took some doing I can tell you  Stag being porous and quite soft you have to be careful not to overdo it. The end result blackened the backspring very nicely and I'm very pleased with the outcome indeed.

Well it did turn out great and you could probably fool a lot of people that would think it to be Mammoth.

Here's one to turn back the clock just a little, CoOp Knife Co., Walden NY (1870-1874) jack with just a bit of the original etch still visible. The company name was changed to Walden Knife Company in 1874 :

Added a Queen #51 White Carved Stag Bone to the #51 collection. Here it is along with an updated group pic.

Also picked up another #73 Jack. This one was made in 2012 using left over parts so the main blade is actually from 2008.

And last but not least, some Rendezvous special #48 Jacks. Burnt Orange Wave jig bone and Fire Flames Acrylic. Along with an updated group pic of all my #48 Jacks.

Hope to get this thread going again. This is an old CASE XX 62024 1/2 I just got from another member. It looks like it might be what we can expect from the GEC #14..
