Best wishes to both of you, and hope for a speedy recovery for Taz.

ETA: When I was young, I had a collie. She developed a fairly large tumor on her chest, that turned out to be cancer. We got it removed, and she never had another issue with tumors or health, and died years later. So, again, best wishes for a speedy recovery for Taz.

Thanks everyone. It is a large one on his chest. Asked a few vets about it and they said best to leave it if it doesn’t bother him. It has gotten to the point that it is bothering him. It started 3 years or so back, I would think if it was cancer it would have got him by now. Hopping just a fatty tumor. Not having it tested. The outcome of the test wouldn’t make any difference. He is the smartest dog I have ever seen. I have never been as attached to an animal as I am to him.

If they've let it go that long, I wouldn't believe it is cancerous by any means.
I've known a few other small dogs that got fatty tumors on their chest, that got pretty large, and were not malignant.
My point in the collie story was not to imply it might be cancerous. It was to say even if it IS cancerous, I'd believe there is a high likelihood that the surgery would go well and Taz would still have many years ahead of him.

Taz got out of surgery about 4 today. They said he did well but does have a large incision so they are keeping him overnight so they can make sure the incision is ok before picking him up tomorrow.

Nice to hear some good news for once :). I'm glad to hear that handsome little pupper is on the mend. Enjoy your time together and try to keep him calm for a few days.

I’m glad to read Taz is doing well!!
Best wishes from us up here for his fast & total recovery!!
