Stolen from TheTexican but I think the newer color green "forest" is pretty badass. way better than moss or jungle green imo.

Thanks a lot! Couldn’t find pics with enough lighting to really show which kind of coating, smooth or soft, each was. Looks similar to me to the moss though. If I have to have a coating, might as well have a smooth, tough one

in the swamp state here dunno if I could keep up with uncoated sr77, have enough trouble with sr101 and even 1095 with our damn 90%+ humidity
Sr 77 won’t quite rust as fast as sr101 or 1095. Well, it shouldn’t, since it has at least 3% chromium, while 1095 and 52100 and 5160 have much less. The

Jerry, I'm going to have to get a standing order for new pants from you mate. That thing looks amazing!!!

The BIG Satin finish in SR77 will be the boobs. I have a SY Dogfather in SR77 and that thing is seriously nuclear tough. Where the coating has worn away from use, the steel shows no sign of corrosion save for a really light patina. I never oil it, and it gets put away dirty. Sometimes I wipe it off with damp cloth if it's really filthy. I've had the knife for about 7 1/2 years.

Wow, I didn’t notice the difference! Hammered silver and forest green are the only smooth coatings?
Well to me the hammered silver has a similar feel like moss green. The new green is very smooth minus the “ oilly “ feeling ? If I’m saying that right. But muddy is pretty smooth so is sage.
Hope that helps

That's pretty much my concern living down here by the swamp in South Florida. If sr77 won't rust with this humidity, then I may just jump on an sr77 also.

If it’s salty by you I’d take care to oil it once an awhile, it won’t match infi for corrosion resistance, but it’ll go further than 1095 or sr101 for sure

I live where there's a combination of fresh, salty and brackish water down here in Miami. Do you think a coated version would add additional resistance against these conditions? Thanks for all the answers. I was ready to skip the sr77 altogether.

The Busse coatings really work in bad environments. And SR77 is fairly resistant to pitting. Just go take a look at a jackhammer bit on the streets of miami. That is SR77. It is pretty resistant to pitting.

Thanks for the guidance Cobalt . I'd have been stuck in the corner sucking my thumb in regards to taking the plunge. I predict that a coated INFI and coated sr77 will make its way to me sometime in the future.

Edited cause realized meant forest didn't have the oily/slick texture moss kinda has that I like. I'm hoping the forest is less "dimpled" than moss and darker in color. Busse should ship out paint swatches to their customers so they actually knkw what their getting before hand. :D

This is gonna be a hard choice between naked SR-77 vs coated INFI... what do you guys going to get? Do you think SR-77 is any close in performance to INFI?
