All New MountainManDu Coming Wednesday 12-13-17. . . Specs, Pics, & Pricing!!!

Like it in theory, but I got a feeling the handle will be too short for me and it needs a 14" blade IMHO :)

IIRC, When I saw the MMD at Knob Creek a few years ago, Beef referred to it as the "master chopper" or something similar.

It's a bad ass knife, pure chopper.

when i was home without proper adult supervision last night I went burrowing in the knife pile (I keep it is a spare room so I can strip off occasionally and roll in it) and realised i had two of the originals.....my alcohol and bad decision effected memory had blocked one out for some reason. I then recalled I had one that came off the tables at KC and one from the short release of them right after. I would love to add a Comp Finish ;) ;) INFI version but I have to be satisfied with what I have now and hold the $s to see what comes next....LOL

..... I can't speak for them but I will bet a testicle that the answer will be a very polite no.

I won’t take that bet, since you have been unfair (to yourself) on the “polite” negative. I have a “jersey” cent that rarely elicits polite refusals. I would, however take you for one of your newfound originals

I’m glad they added a Big finish again. Is there any work required for that though or is it just an uncoated blade? Wouldn’t it be cheaper to not have the blade sent out for a coating thus saving money? If there is work required it’d be great if there was another option that’d be cheaper than coated which would simply be an uncoated blade. Hell, even call it “ugly finish” so the snowflakes can’t cry about it. I’d be down for that for sure.

One knife reviewer was able to break a basic 8, after a year or more of batoning with a framing hammer; this one in sr-77 would take 50 years of similar abuse without breaking, I believe!

So, SR77 is that much tougher than INFI?
Please don' get me wrong, I'm genuinely curious.
I thought INFI was the best period. In all categories.

I think INFI is supposed to tbe the best combination of toughness, edge holding, ease of sharpening, and corrosion resistnce; but ot necessarily the very best in any individual category.

As for the relative toughness of SR-77, I'll leave that to someone who actually knows something about knife steels.

I’m just getting into busse knives myself, but sr77 is a shock steel, meant for extreme impact resistance(such as the jackhammer bits Cobalt referred to). Infi is considered the best all around steel, since breakage requires extreme abuse, and has better edge retention and corrosion resistance. I can’t find any data on infi toughness since it’s a proprietary steel(and ht.) sr7, though, is orders of magnitude tougher(impact and lateral resistance to breakage) than the next known tool steels(at similar hardness), with the exception of s5, which I haven’t seen used in a knife.

I don’t know if these are sold out or not for sale yet... I just checked, didn’t see a time stated for orders.

I'm interested in confirmation of the handle material shown, as well. Looks like some older tan...but it also looks like the maroon micarta I received.

I like the look of it, and upon close inspection it does look like maroon. Would love a confirmation from Jerry so I don't order the wrong color.

I want this blade color. it is stunning
