^ I agree.
The one area where S7 steel falls short is lateral strength. Bend it too far and it's likely it will stay bent per what I have researched from makers that have extensive experience with S7 (Scott Gossman). INFI will definitely shine in more ways than one on a blade with this FFG thinner profile ;)

YMMV

While I agree with you that lateral strength favors INFI, SR77 will bend far beyond the point of where other steels would have snapped in two. I would rather have a thin blade of SR77 than SR101. In fact I would love to see a Busse machete out of SR77

So I'm wondering if one were to try to bend a Infi Moab like in those video tests if the earths crust would rupture and it register as a small earthquake?

Well, I dun did it now...no turning back... I'm going with a Big Finish INFI with Maroon canvas, AND a Big Finish SR-77 with green canvas. I couldn't decide so I did both.

Agreed, an 18", maybe 16" blade. Smooth grip, thin coating.

^ Not saying that you can't bend it, just saying that to not expect it to go back to true straight again.
S7 is crazy tough....Just look what Scott Gossman subjected his S7 to in this link below;

https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/more-s7-testing.178865/

I'm quoting Scott Gossman's words here. "That's the only problem I see with S7 is that if it's bent two far say past 30 degrees, it won't bounce back. It doesn't have much bounce back flex like other steels. I do believe you can bend it 90 degrees without it breaking but it won't come back. Check out the link I posted for angelsword.com They damn near bent it 360 degrees before it broke but the broken piece stayed bent."

S7 is very strange stuff. S7 sure over performs compared to it's fairly simple chemical composition.

From Dan Busse in the DF thread...

"I took the knife to 42 degrees and it sprung back to true. Also realize that this knife tested out at 59.2 rockwell.

You should also realize that I park in at just about 300lbs and pulling just on the handle (no pry-bar) I could only get it to bend to 20 degress.

With the 4ft pry-bar and one of our guys coming in at 250 lbs doing the bend developed arm tremors that lasted for almost an hour after the photo shoot.

As I told you earlier, you will simply be amazed at the toughness and performance of this knife.

Dan"

Did you not watch the video and see the pics? SR77 and Busse heat treat comes back to true.

Anybody remember the review and experience Worldwood had with his original MMD? My concern was relating to the edge stability itself once sharpened and thinned a bit more so than flexing with sr77.

Last call for sr77 version. That one went fast, lol. I might have to get another.

I was about to place an order for two in INFI and the shipping is $58.95.

What is up with these shipping charges? That's nuts.

Mine said the same thing. I messaged the shop and Patti replied shipping is the usual $14.95 which is what my order confirmation says as well. Must be a bug or something.
