I got the ok to reopen this thread. The last thread was closed because people were trying to sell, buy, talking about where to get and how much they were. Please do not talk about or have discussion on where to buy. Encouragement to check other sites out is unfair to Bladeforums Exchange and the paid Dealers like Survive! Knives. If you want info on where to get them try survive knives.com or look in the exchange. So unless you are from Survive Knives PLEASE do not talk about prices and where to get them unless it is from Survive. If people are talking an having discussion like that this thread will be closed. Thanks for all your help folks

Can you please remove you comment please so, that the thread does not get closed down. Thanks

Hahahaha first reply is asking where and how much, nice joke.

Anyway, anyone received their GSO 4.1 from the batch that sold out a couple of weeks ago?

Can't wait to get mine :-)

Purchased from Guy on July 4th with a spare set of G10 scales.
One of my favorite knives.

Man, I wish I had the cash to get another GSO-4.1 as a gift, or a -6 for camping. I'm really liking my -4.1 in M390.

A few mods on a GSO 6 to make it my own:

First I ground the handle/tang at the index finger area about 3/16" closer to the raccaso. This gave me more room on the handle, got me closer to the blade and neutralized the forward balance.

Then I did the floor mat spacer trick that worked out so well on the GSO 10. I picked up a six dollar rubber floor mat at the auto parts store and used it to fabricate liners.
I went with the Grey as it almost matches the handle. They also have Black and Tan.

After installing the liners and contouring the handle the difference is amazing. It really fills out my hand and feels great.

Finally I adjusted the Kydex with a hair drier to accommodate the extra space from the liners.

I was more than happy with this knife before the mods, now it just flat out rocks.

The rest of the family:

I ground off the finger groove and added liners to the GSO 10. This gave me more grip options and feels better for me.

On the GSO 4.1 I rounded down the back of the handle/tang above the lanyard opening and gave it a thin convex edge. It feels nice and cuts like crazy.

How thin are the edges on these knives? Are they good to go or are they uselessly thick like Swamp Rat, Scrapyard, Becker etc...and need to be fixed right out of the box?

They are good to go. My 4.1 was from an earlier batch that were a bit thicker but very usable.
Since then Guy has responded to customer feed back and thinned the edges.
I'm not sure of the measurement but my new GSO 6 is noticeably thinner than the older GSO 4.1 out of the box and cuts like a laser.
One thing is for sure...these knives are for using not collecting. They are cutting tools and they do it well.

I have one of the "thicker" (I don't even know if that's accurate other than to compare it to what's being called a thinner edge on current models) 4.1's in M390 and it cuts very well. I've used it to clean a couple of deer, cut up some green wood and some very hard, seasoned hardwood and it's terrific. The heat treat, grinds, ergos, fit and finish and overall design are pretty well tops in my book.

I just got my GSO-6 this week and can't wait to start using it. My 3.5 should hopefully be here next month and I'm afraid it might end up kicking the Benchmade out of my pocket for EDC.

That's cool. I'll keep an eye on them in the future. I ask because every tactical knife I seem to buy has an absolutely useless edge for something as simple as feathersticks. I just got a rodent solution and I'm thinking about sending it back because it's unuseable for anything but beating it through a cinder block. That's cool if you need that kind of thing. i just don't.

I added a GSO-6 a week ago and love it... fits very nicely between my 10 and 4.1. Looking forward to my 3.5 arriving. Great knives if you can get by the hassle of actually acquiring one. Worth it for me though.

How are people liking the necker? I'm tempted to order one, but have reservations, namely because it looks like it would be less versatile than other necker designs and I already have a BK24. On the other hand, it looks like it would be a very non-intimidating knife to wear in public and is made out of M390.

My older GSO-4.1 was thicker but still ~0.030" and 15-dps.
My GSO-5.1 is only 0.020" at the edge-shoulder, and that shoulder isn't wide! From apex to shoulder is ~14+dps, with the primary grind at 5-dps as usual. The cutting ability is quite high.
I also own a rodent solution, HRLM, RatManDu, and Rodent 9 all from the Swamp, and a SYKCO 511 and Busse Hog Muk as well. The only Bussekin that came to me with comparable geometry was the Muk - 0.020" at the shoulder, ~15-dps. All the others required significant adjustment to bring them down to 15-dps, and all are thicker at the shoulder, even the Rodent Solution. Once you bring them down, they are made of strong and tough steel  But the coating drags substantially on deep cuts through cardboard or splitting wood.

If you are comparing the cost of each, the Rats and Dogs are cheaper by ~$50 on average, but they usually only come in SR101 steel, are naked (no sheath), and may require significant edge adjustment to get them cutting like a GSO from Survive! knives. So when you add in the price of a sheath as nice as Kiah provides for Guy's knives, + time/tools to adjust the edge, + the downside of a good thick coating, you may find that the GSO knives are actually cheaper and ready to go the moment they arrive!

All that said, I really like the designs of some of those Bussekin, which is probably why I own more of them than any other company :p The handles are generally very comfortable, and I am not afraid to use them hard.
But Guy has a good thing going here  I am currently waiting for my Necker II.

note the difference in blade profiles. I like them both but love the less of a drop point on the 6

hope my 10 and 3.5 will get here soon

I had and sold, just couldn't get used to the lack of a handle and couldn't find a niche for it. I am looking forward to trying the Necker II when mine arrives. I made a mock-up and compared to the ESEE Izula. I may find that these "ring" knives just don't suit me, but I'm giving them a chance as an investment in growing Survive! Knives. You could always spring for one to try it out, and if you don't like it, post it on the BF exchange. Here is the Izula against the Necker II mock-up:
